To be fair, most of the people in Alabama and Louisiana have family ties that have been there for generations.

No doubt. I was just stating that I believe the Solomon ship has sailed. Time to start looking at guys like Emmanueil McNeil, Devonte Wyatt, or someone in the juco ranks.

I believe there were at least two juco d-linemen on campus this past weekend. Would not surprise me if we went that route.

The problem with that is that most of our DL will be juniors or sophomores in 2017 when a JUCO would show up (as a true junior most likely), so you'd have no class separation.

It is true that you would have no class separation, but you would still be adding depth that can play right away to the line.

Going into '17 our DL looks like this:

Michael Barnett - Jr
Justin Young - Soph
Jonathen Ledbetter - Jr
Michail Carter - Soph
Tyler Clark- Soph
Julian Rochester- Soph
Daquan Hawkins - Jr
Trent Thompson - Jr
Jon Atkins - Sr

I get wanting to have class separation but that's not exactly inspiring a ton of confidence. Surely some of those young guys that haven't played much will get their chance this year and could potentially be dynamic heading into '17. But still, if you can find a JUCO DL for next year that can help, you take him.

OK. If we can't find a JUCO DT capable of starting, we shouldn't take him. Not having offered one yet isn't a good indication of that being the case.

It's just a shitty, shitty class of DTs across the board. We'd be better off taking a project freshman who might someday help us than some blah JUCO who doesn't make us any better, imo.

Obviously the depth chart looks a little rough, but this is Kirby's call. He's said that they aren't gonna throw out last minute offers. Honestly, I looked at the Top247 and the quality for not just DT's, but the DL in general, just really isn't there. Not because we aren't in play for anyone, but it's just a fact. Many that are listed as DE's are probably more of OLB's for us, IMO.

If we are unable to flip Soloman, it's a blow for sure, simply because he's at a position of need. I saw somewhere he had stated he wasn't even from Georgia, was born in California, so he really doesn't have that desire to stay home. That being said, with the way his recruitment has gone, get him on campus and all bets are off, he changed his leader every time he visited a school.

Soloman is supposed to visit Auburn this weekend, we shall see if he shows up. 3 star DT Phidarian Mathis from LA. was at Kirby's camp but I don't know how high UGA's interest is, 247 is showing he does not have a offer from us. David Marshall is another I think projects on the DL for us.

I don't expect Smart to just throw out last minute offers for the sake of doing so, and honestly it's not even last minute yet. They will work on Solomon throughout the season I'm sure. But like you said the DL pool for this class and next isn't really that deep. So I would expect them to have a couple of project guys that they are going to evaluate as the season progresses bc thet definitely need 1 de and 1 dt for this class to meet thenumbers that they have talked about.

Didn't Big Country play DT his whole high school career? I read somewhere his footwork wasnt the best at Tackle so maybe with all the Oline guys Pitman is bring in we can move him over to defense.

Big Country needs to stay put at OL. We aren't that desperate.

Not sure about his whole career, but I know a good bit of his senior year.

Right.

There should be a guy out there, probably even in the state of GA that could be a project but is worth a spot. Think DaQuan Hawkins, who is now getting to be a rotation-worthy guy.

Also, somebody like Malik Herring could work to get to that 290-315 range and could work inside

Big rating bumps for Holloman and netori on 247, both now in top100.

Looks like we offered a 5* receiver, Tyjon Lindsey.
