Herrien is far from a "big time prospect" given the limited recruiting coverage (largely due to academic concerns).

He was being recruited by Bama and UGA so even with his grade situation he was cetainly on the radar.

es, there is typically a pretty noticeable difference in someone running roughly a tenth of a second different, particularly on film against other players for relative comparison.

I guess some people just can't look at film and tell if a player has good explosion, cutting ability, long speed, etc.

Brian Herrien does look to have pretty good quickness and initial speed. His long speed does look a bit lacking, but not too many people have that extra gear at 40+ yds.

Also, did any of you all watch Gurley's high school tape? I remember seeing it and K Marshalls, but I never looked at Gurley's high school film and thought he would be a stud at UGA. But damn did Gurley turn it up once at UGA. Gurley doesn't look as fast either in the video.

The point is that B Herrien kinda reminded me of Gurley's high school tape. Now I'm not saying he will be good like Gurley, but the similar characteristics are there....big build, got good north south speed, hard to bring down with one player, etc. I'm very glad we were able to get him, and hopefully he can take that next step in college like Gurley did.

Oh is BH 6'1? I've seen him listed at 6ft, up to 6'2", so anyone know which it is? What about his weight? He looks about 6'1 around 210-215.

Part of what made Todd great at UGA was his confidence. Nothing rattled that guy. Nobody on any field at any given time scared him. He was big and he knew it. He was fast and he knew it. He wasn't a man amongst boys purely because of talent; he was that way because he believed he was that way. You c Told say the same thing about AJ Green. He was talented and he knew it and THAT made him dangerous

Good point. After he scored the 1st two times he touched the ball in a UGA uniform (KO return and big run) you got excited. But when he ripped into Bama as a true freshman on such a big stage you knew he was the real deal. Sure would like to have seen what he could do without the injury and suspension.

you'd have a hard time convincing me that todd isn't the 2nd best RB we've ever had. Truly a shame his career was shortened due to injury and suspension, I'm pretty sure he would have won the heisman in '14 if he played the whole year.

I don't know how big he actually is but on film he is huge compared to everyone else on the field.

Herrien exceeds in 5A unless I'm mistaking. That's normally the top level talent in Ga High School football. I have no doubts he will make an impact at some point.

He played a region that was feast or famine. East Paulding, South Paulding, and Allatoona are legit. The others not so much.

Gurley had the coolest personality ever. He had a quiet, understated confidence that was beyond arrogance. Todd is the only player who has caused me to question whether Jake Scott should be my all time favorite Dawg.

as far as personalities go, he's sure up there. Of course there's the bar fights and driving on top of stegeman and all, but there was a really long, really awesome article a few years ago where someone caught up with him in hawaii for an interview. One thing he said was "when I wake up in the morning, the toughest thing to decide is if I want to start drinking or go fishing".

Guy lives the frickin life.

What makes that worse is that Murray in 2013 and Chubb in 2015 were in similar positions before crap hit the fan. 3 years in a row just aint right.

Chubb played in a region that was a complete shite show.
Honostly had my doubts because of the numbers he was putting against awful teams and his HS was crushed when they played their 1st legit opponent.

I watched Gurley and Marshall play in HS. Gurley played in one of the worst HS classifications in NC kinda like Chubb. Marshall played in the best! Watching both in person you could just tell Gurley was better in HS just didn't have the exposure. The guy was explosive and strong. After seeing him in person even against terrible teams you can tell a lot about a RB, what he really gained at UGA was his vision which I think is one of the best in the NFL if not the best

The whole vision thing is why I don't see LF turning out to be the greatest in NFL but I could be wrong.

May be completely Germans but I read where Isaiah Wilson has us on his short list. That would be an awesome link in building a dominating o-line.
