Stanford... FSU... Stanford... FSU.

You can't go wrong academically with either, can you?

Well, UGA is better than FSU.

I don't think you can even take an OV without first having the grades for Stanford.

1st time I've been on line since Sat. afternoon. Imma in merry old Downham Market in Norfolk about 2 hrs. N. of London.

My daughter went to the University of York in northern England and loved it. Unfortunately, she met a guy there from the Netherlands and now lives just outside of Amsterdam and works in Amsterdam.

Man, to be the week before signing day, this place and many others are quiet as a mouse.

I guess that is good and bad. Good that we have wrapped up most of this class already, but bad because now Im bored lol

So now we might lose Markaviest Bryant. So this class is fizzling out at the end like Mark Richt's classes. We lose Solomon, Warner and Bryant, all who seemed like they would choose UGA at one point. We might even lose Wyatt. I'm not sure Nico Collins is a get either.

If you want to cry, go to 247 and see the slideshow on 2013 prospects that we missed on. They offer insight as to why we lost a lot of those prospects and, DAMN, our old staff really fricked up a lot in that class.

Ex.) We never returned Myles Jack's phone calls because we thought we were still in it with Reuben Foster.

I spent 4 years at Lakenheath. Great Place. Ely Cathedral is cool too.

Not sure how much control the staff has over that situation. USC's 247 is reporting that he has some work left to do to qualify and if he's borderline for USC then he most likely isn't getting into UGA. The university system in GA requires more core classes than the SEC minimum requires.

As far as Bryant goes, I still think we land him in the end. Been a UGA lean for a long, long time. Finishing out with Bryant, Speed, an interior DL, and either Collins or Williams will still put this class firmly in elite territory. Even if we just shut it all down and don't take anyone else, this is still the best class UGA has signed in the internet era.

I'm not melting. It's not going to change my life no matter who we sign. It's disappointing though if we swing and miss on all of these big time recruits right at the end. If we do we won't be in the top 5.

We are top 3 if we miss on everyone.

Yes we would, unless the teams below us just rack up a ton of 5* and high 4* - which won't happen.

That also assumes we don't sign anyone else, which also won't happen.

My son in law & daughter have been over here for 19 years, Mildenhall, Croughton & Lakenheath. Son in law has been deployed in Turkey since last Jan. he has 2 more months before he comes back to England. 3 more years & he's retiring.

Ely is where the DOD high school held their early graduation...

Enuff of that... We gonna keep Wyatt & flip Jaymest or what???

I noticed some recent CB's to LSU for Bryant, I thought Auburn was the main competition for big cat. Anything to worry about here? We have to keep Beal on board if Bryant ends up in BR.

Beal will play as a down lineman, Bryant will be a LB. Always worry a little in recruiting, but I think Bryant ends up in Athens.

Edit: Looked on the LSU board. Apparently the CB is from an LSU mod who they readily admit is a HUGE homer. He has apparently CB'd every target they have left for LSU. I would take that one with a grain of salt.

Solomon from the *VERY BEGINNING* has had one foot out of the state of Georgia... "seemed like [he] would choose UGA" requires a pretty liberal definition of seemed.

Warner is most likely not a take for us, rather than him actively choosing somewhere else.

Bryant, while I'd still love to add him (and we might), has not exactly finished out this year on a high note. Most are expecting him to require a red shirt year or more in order to really get to the right size/strength to compete (reminds me of a less highly touted Zo Carter).

Collins is another one that we were never a lock to get by any means. Even if we swing and miss on all of these guys, it's like your discounting all the work the staff did to get the ridiculous class we already have lined up, just because it happened prior to January. The meat of this class is already here, at this point, we're just trying to fill it out. And in order to take many beyond the 23 we've got, I believe there would need to be some "forced attrition".

The only teams I would see taking a significant jump that aren't already ahead of us would be FSU, LSU, and/or Auburn, simply due to the number of recruits already committed. Unless they're adding a handful of all high 4* and 5* athletes, our position in the top 5 should be rock solid (and honestly the top 3 fairly solid as well). To lose our top 3, I'd have to think we'd need to lose recruit(s), not land anyone else, and then every other school immediately behind us lands quality talent.

Losing Wyatt would hurt since he is currently our only committed interior DL and does look to have speed (regardless of if you buy the 40 time or not), so if you can couple that with good coaching on technique and strength training, who wouldn't like that. Last year's class had a "gap" in OL and Kirby knew that, so we had to commit pretty heavily to OL recruiting this year. Unfortunately the 2017 and 2018 classes aren't exactly littered with quality DL talent. 2019 on the other hand looks to have some great specimens but that's a bit too far out to count on. If we miss on Solomon, lose Wyatt, and don't sign anyone else who's a true interior DL, I'd say that will hurt a bit, more if Trent leaves after next season. Ultimately, I'm fairly certain that Kirby and Co are aware of this, and are trying to solidify at minimum 1, probably 2 DL that can play and contribute. If we miss this year, it just means we have to double down on out of state DL next year most likely. 2018 GA recruiting pool isn't rated as highly as this year's, so I'm imagining we'll be going out of state for a lot of needs.
