I see...I was going on what he said when they asked him before the infamous secret flip. I think they should've kept it quiet and he would've stayed. I'm of the mind that the more media that grab ahold of a kids possible flip the worse the chance is that the flip will actually happen. Random people, family, friends, and coaches catch whiff of it and start giving them a hard time about being a "man of their word" and such. I'm sure USC jumped on him and his family about making a committment and probably convinced him of why he committed in the first place. Kids at that age make decisions on a whim so you can never be sure what they will be committed to from one day to the next.

Yeah, I'm not going to speculate about what happened there. It was weird.

I'm still not sure our staff would consider Key a miss. We took several guys in this class who look more physical and more explosive. Key has a lot of upside once he fills out, but to my untrained eye his videos in HS look like he has a lot of work to do.

Key's a beast. He's so explosive to be that tall and long. Really wish we had got him

I agree Crow. Key is very lanky and has good pass rush moves. He was very good at the All-Star game. Wish we could've made more of a push for him.

I may just be a homer, but I like D'Andre Walker's video a lot more than Key's. Walker looks more athletic and explosive to me. I can see how he racked up 55 sacks in high school.

I like Walker a lot too. He is more explosive and athletic, but he's also not 6'6".

Key could end up being 6'6" 260 and an absolute terror off the edge like Lorenzo Carter is.

One of the most interesting things about college football is following players from the recruiting stage onward and see how they develop. To me, Key is one of those guys who has obvious potential, but I still have doubts.

I also had doubts about Leonard Floyd in HS, and he's turned out pretty well. I thought Darius Dewberry was rated too high, go that one right. I though Lorenzo was potentially the best we've ever had, got my fingers crossed on that one.

As far as this class, I'm very satisfied with all of our DL/OLB guys, so I'm not sweating who we might have gotten.

Maybe that is why they brought in that WR earlier this week for a visit??

Could probably explain why we've been in on Choates and the Miami commitment.

Getting either one of those guys instead of Wilson won't hurt my feelings. Choates seems more likely.

Tony Ball is a candidate for the VT WR Coaching position. Didn't realize he was there from '98 - '05...

I'd read speculation that Coach Ball might not be happy after we hired Schottenheimer. When he didn't get a raise, maybe the writing was on the wall.

I'd probably rather have Choates, truth be told.
