At the rate db's drop off this team i wouldnt be shocked if half the class was made up of cbs and safeties to make up for the 8 that go away for whatever reason.

That or the staff believes Abernathy is headed to Tennessee

I Doubt it. I think we just recognize a need for defensive backs to come in and play immediately. We still feel good about Abernathy, especially after his father's quotes from last weekend.

Basically just said he really likes Pruitt and feels he would do well in Pruitt's defense or something along those lines.

Everything I have heard has been solid for Slayton but that Abernathy is far from solid. Lot of people could see him outside of Athens.

His father apparently really didn't want him at UGA before this last trip, but from his comments it seems like we changed his perception of the program.

Anyone else following this thread on 247? Can only read about 1/2 the posts since I'm not a member but it's pretty interesting. Wonder how much truth is in the OP's rumor? Kinda surprised they've let it go for 5 pages, they're usually pretty strict on unfavorable rumors...

As much as I want that to be fake I could absolutely see it being true.

Basically half of the "insiders" agree, the other half say that Pruitt is pretty happy here and, honestly, UGA spent the 4th most in the SEC last year on recruiting. We're not going to buy 8 private jets so all our coaches can fly across the country every night to see prospects.

Is anyone truly surprised by the OP or Lake's response? If so, you shouldn't be.
UGA has been the one of the most poorly managed athletic departments in the country over the past 20 years. Our athletics as a whole, not just football, but also basketball and baseball should be A LOT better than they've been the past two decades. We offer too much in terms of resources to field mid-tier teams in the big three sports. We are a bunch of penny pinching boy scouts. As long as the current folks continue to make decisions at our beloved University, nothing is going to change.
I used to have hopes that UGA could dominate the conference in football and field excellent teams in basketball and baseball. Although I think we have that potential, it will never be realized. We are way too worried about trying to become the "Harvard of the South."
How many examples do I have to point to? Poor hires. Not firing coaches who deserve to be fired for lack of performance until the proverbial plane crashes into the side of the mountain. Low salaries amongst our football coaches - Richt was paying them bonuses out of his own pocket a few years ago. Mid-level recruiting budget. Drug testing policy that is contrary to the direction of our country. Lack of a sophisticated, serious strength program (seriously, a former video coordinator with no training or formal background in nutrition or sports science is our S&C coordinator). WE ARE A LAUGHINGSTOCK OF AN ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION.

Kid played at a high school down the street from me. Watched him play quite a bit and he put up monster numbers as a running back. However, as a DB, on a team that played a soft cover 3 almost 100% of the time, he was always getting beat deep. It was almost a given every game that he would give up a couple deep balls.
The bigger surprise to me though in us going after him is that he was always in trouble. he basically just quit school when football season ended and id assume thats why he ended up taking the juco route.
Id love to see some juco highlights of him at DB so I could see how much his coverage skills have progressed
