Leland, Hill, or Dickey?
It seems when I watch UIL games and highlites the state has gone to Air Raid or Run n Shoot type sets.
I think the Aggies with the talent they have on the OL would want to go back to this style. OL coaches and the OL generally want every play to be a run.
It is proven you run to win games.

So he's going to get 50 plus percent of yardage from scrimmage? Or be the focal point of the offense?

Ok he'll be as close as the offense we run now will allow him to get. You know good and well that unless we change offenses that it probably won't happen, but he's got the talent to be as good as they were.

If he's half the back Leland was he'll be good.

I still say Dickey was the best we ever had here. GH and LMc were great but Curtis was in another catagory as a college back.

I still think Murray was better than Manziel. He just wasn't on the huge stage.
I also think Bucky Richardson was under rated due to the offense.
As far as RB I think it's Leland and everyone else, but I saw Dickey on tv as a young young in. So I can't comment really.

Never saw Dickey (obviously ), and only barely remember Hill and Lectric, but for some reason, McElroy was the one that stuck out to me during my formative years of understanding the game.
Just remembered thinking that was the fastest maroon-wearing fella I'd ever seen
Him and Biakabatuka at Michigan were the earliest RB's I can consciously recall from when I was a kid. Would pretend to be them in my backyard

If you're looking for another RB to be such a large percentage of the offensive production as those guys were, I'd say no, not as long as KDS is the coach. But I think that's OK. I'm not sure that even if we had a Greg Hill or Curtis Dickey that they'd carry such a huge portion of the load.
Curtis Dickey is my favorite all time probably somewhat because my HS team played against his Bryan High team and he made us look ridiculous. We got beat by other teams, but only looked ridiculous against him. He was crazy fast, which he later demonstrated at A&M on both the football and track teams.
Weird thing and off on a tangent... I know I'm old. But it seems odd to me that that means Curtis Dickey is also old.

Bucky was a gamer who just found a way to win his skill set was fair imo

As a pro style qb yes plus he had a better arm

I feel like we've had good but underperforming RBs since Courtney Lewis.
Goodson
Lane
Michael
Molena
Trey Williams
Brandon Williams
carson
Gray
Aside from Goodson, Lane, and CMike none of them have ever been as big a part of the game as they showed flashes of being.

Gray out played every single person on your list so I would say he was about as big a part of the game as any.
Back to back 1000 yards seasons with 5+ ypc ea year and 12 TDs ea year.

Have to disagree with Gray and Melina being in the underperformers list.

Bumping this due to recent happenings. Do the Aggies need to get into more run heavy offense? I still think you run to win.
Good luck in Nasvegas tonight...
You can ask RC and Toby I've played nice lately.

With our OL it wouldn't really matter.
A power running team is great if you can pull it off, but it requires a team that has almost no flaws. The defense has to be smothering, especially up front. The OL always needs to be dominant and punishing. And the QB and WRs still have to be able to do enough to keep opposing defenses honest.
There aren't many coaches that can juggle all those balls. Basically you're talking about Saban and Meyer.

You made no sense to me. Are you saying that only those coaches can run a power game? I'm not wanting to attack you just want a clarification before I respond.

Dave Christiansen was brought in ostensibly to improve our running game, but I agree with Ash that until the OL play gets better (and we get a competent OC), it won't matter much whether we try to be run heavy or pass heavy.
Honestly we haven't done too good a job establishing an identity as either. Carson rushed for 1k but we misused him criminally and nobody's mistaking us for a power run team. Passing game is obviously in shambles.
