This is not intended as a statement disguised as a throwaway question. There certainly must be some reason for it.

We have what is supposed to be an embarassment of riches on DL, coupled with a somewhat inexplicable inability to recruit LBs. Our DL coaches are experienced and historically a strength.

Yet we run what seems to be the worst defensive scheme for that personnel situation.

I'm not a professional coach, just a former player and now construction contractor. I deploy resources appropriate to their abilities, not what I want them to be (even moreso lately).

Since Durkin is historically a successful DC, he probably hasn't just lost his mind since landing in BCS.

So what is the unknown reason for 3-2? Injury?

Or do we just have an incredible combination of an OC/HC and DC at the same time who insist on their way regardless?

So I would prefer 4 man fronts as well, but we do have 2 starting DL's out (McKinley Jackson & Tunmise Adeleye). And our strongest position group is DB, not DL imo. We ran a ton of 3-2-6 against Arkie.
I bet we run primarily a 3-2-6 against State, then hopefully back to 4-2-5 Bama forward.

Defense held them to 21 points, I feel like we’re really trying hard to bitch at this point it’s our offense that needs help

That makes sense. And 3-2-6 makes the most sense against State.
