I'm planning on flying to LA Saturday morning, unless I can get there easily Friday night. Gonna roam around LA Saturday and tailgate all day Sunday. Anyone else making the journey? I imagine this will be one of the few chances (if not the only chance) in my lifetime to see us play at the Rose Bowl stadium.

I've been meaning to start an advice thread where I can give out my wise sage like wisdom about all things UCLA, the rose bowl, and Pasadena (or the rest of the LA area) to anyone making the trip. So if youre making it and have any questions, ask away baws

Thinking about it...flights are cheap from PDX to anywhere in Cali.

not a fun drive but you can get in around midnight if you leave after work as well

I've been to LA a few times. Done Hollywood Blvd, Melrose Avenue, Venice Beach, and Santa Monica. Also went up to Griffith Park one night. Got any recommendations other than those?

I am. Flying in Friday morning, and flying out Monday morning. Likely going to AirBnB. Going to see what the SoCal Association puts on for a tailgate, and decide if we'd prefer paying for our own or just roaming. Aside from TPing WCA's house, we have no plans. Open to any and all suggestions for food, night life, things to do in the area, and gameday plans. This will be my first time in the area

Flights are like $150 a head from here...I may make this happen. Could even fly home after the game in time for work on Monday. How much time would it take to get to LAX on a Sunday evening after an agonizing aggy defeat?

whats the flight like? one hour? maybe 75 minutes?

You have work on Labor Day? Rough.

Not sure yet. Probably close to LAX where it's cheap. That way I can get out of town easy on Monday when I wake up. I fly standby so it's pretty flexible. It also means I do all concrete planning last minute because if I can't get on the flight then I don't go and I don't want to have to pay for accommodations I don't use.

ive heard people say good things about going down to abbot kinnley, which is right by venice, and looking at the shops and stuff. dont know if youre into that whole hipstery/vintage vibe but i know people said they liked looking at the stuff
i also know people whove said that they liked to go to marina del ray, which is also right next to venice, and just walk around and look at the boats
im pretty sure there is a flight and car museum next to LAX as well and as always, venice is only about a 15 minute drive so even if youve done the boardwalk and the surrounding area before, you might have fun going back
there is a lot of recreation stuff by the rose bowl itself because its at the bottom of a huge ravine. there are parks with grills and playgrounds, if you want to do an outdoor day you can probably go on a quick hike around the arroyo seco
or you can just hang out in pasadena and drink all day while you watch football

Considering it's the first Saturday of football season, we will probably go to Venice or Santa Monica and just bar hop and watch football. I always have a pretty good time in those areas. Sunday will be all about Pasadena and tailgating.
