We are only playing Lamar because we needed an extra OOC game to replace the lost conference game from our move to the SEC.

lol no

that excuse doesnt fly anymore

we would have easily scheduled a school like Houston for example

Not without scheduling an away game too. We already have too many of those. Arky in AT&T, ASU in NRG, @UCLA, @UO, @SMU. Not worth it giving up another game at new Kyle.

I'm sorry but we damn well could have gotten another FBS team in that slot. Perhaps Houston would have wanted a return. Whatevs. There are plenty of other little FBS fish that would have happily swam to Kyle for a one game beat down.

shite, we have Western f-ing Carolina set up for next year. YOu really want to pretend that by year 4 of the SEC the lost Arky series is still causing that much trouble?

Teams that have FCS schools this week that also have EIGHT home games:

Houston
Connecticut

Both play BYU in nonconference and both were likely not willing to give up a HOME GAME for an almost certain road loss.

West Carolina is a November game. That's damn near impossible to fill. It's why we have long lead times for November games (we've already scheduled them way in advance going forward).

I think it's awful but we definitely had scheduling challenges with the move. I get that we should do better, but sometimes it's not so easy.

excuses excuses

look, I gave em a pass for the first couple years but at this point I wont.

If it takes a little more coin to get somebody here fine.

Better to spend it on better teams than stupid shite like beams of light that shoot from the corners of the stadium when we win.

We're playing ASU. One major school a year is all we need.

Yea in Houston

and I'm sorry but the fact that you are defending such shite games is ridiculous.

I'm not asking for them all to be against P5 schools but we for damn sure should NEVER play an FCS squad.

Alabama - plays Western Carolina
Arkansas - plays Nicholls State
Auburn - plays Samford
Florida - plays Eastern Kentucky
Georgia - plays Charleston Southern
Kentucky - played UT-Martin
LSU - plays Sam Houston State
Mississippi State - plays UT-Martin
Missouri - played South Dakota State
Ole Miss - plays Presbyterian
South Carolina - plays Furman
Tennessee - plays UT-Chattanooga
Texas A&M - plays Lamar
Vanderbilt - plays Charleston Southern

Let me save you the trouble by listing the power 5 conference schools that DON'T play FCS opponents this season (can't include Notre Dame)

Michigan
Penn State
Oklahoma
t.u.
Arizona
UCLA
Colorado
USC

Of those, only UCLA plays at least 2 power-5 schools in nonconference. All are in conferences that have 9 conference games

Well we just added UCLA to the schedule.

I get why we have FCS schools on the schedule. The travel is one way. From a season ticket holder standpoint it sucks. I really could give a shite about seeing any of those 4 teams on our schedule this year.

In fact, we gave our tickets away for the Lamar game and are going to Austin to watch Texas get thrashed by BYU this weekend. Still have part of the family that pulls for Texas so...

Sounds like you need to start ponying up a few million a year so we can pay better schools to come.

With the way SMU is playing, we may just break that dry spell.

Its hard to schedule a home only game now days. I'm surprised we were able to get UTEP last year to come over without a return seeing as how they have forced Texas Tech and Oklahoma to visit El Paso recently.

The only non P5 school we should be doing a home and home with is UNLV. GET THIS DONE HYMAN!!!!!!!!!! I would also accept Nevada for a 2 for 1.
