I was thinking we could each name a play or two and come up amongst ourselves what we believe to be the top 25 plays in Aggie Football History.

A couple of my contenders:

Gamble fumble recovery to seal the Bonfire Game

Terrance Kiel interception to seal upset of no 1 OU. He then hands the ball to Bob.

What are your contenders

- The Hit
- Johnny recover fumble and pass to Swope vs bama

This is actually pretty difficult when most of the Aggie football I have experienced has been the Fran and Sherman eras

From the Fran era, it has to be the Kellen Heard hit on McCoy. I don't give a damn what they say, the hit was legal.

From Sherman era, I don't think I can name a single play. Obviously, those Oklahoma and Nebraska games in 2010 were special, but not one play sticks out. (The goal line stand stick out, but that was more than 1 play that made that moment special). If I had to pick, the best play of the Sherman era wasn't a play, it was the aftermath of the Nebraska game where the towels rained down right after we sealed the victory and then the students rushed the field.

R.C. Slocum was also before my time, so I've only been exposed to crappy football with a couple of good seasons.

Ryan Swope's "is this the backbreaker?!" touchdown catch from Ryan Tannehill late in the OU game sticks out for me.

i don't know if it's top 25, but one i was in person for was Mike Goodson's 64 yd TD run vs Baylor in 2006 that stuck out to me. that was balls-out fast. i've never seen a dude turn it up like he did on that run.

trying to find a video of it.

ETA found it: skip to 4:00

If hope you mean Bennett's hit. Heard's was illegal and not something that should sniff the top 100 plays.

If we pick a play from the Bama win, I say its the TD to Kennedy.

I'd also include the 90+ yard pass from Johnny to Mike th every next year.

Johnny's game winner over Ole Miss to Swope.

The No Go Fo Bo At Co Bo was before my time, but maybe the goaline stand.

Stealing Tim Brown's towel on special teams is unique.

Rodney Thomas hurdle over tu in to the endzone.

Tooooooooombs power run vs OU.

J Train's 1 handed catch with the ball thrown behind him vs OSU (I think in the 4th or OT).

McGee TD run vs tu in 2005 was great because he got destroyed the play before and popped up talking shite. Ran the same play again and scored this time.

All I got off the top of my head real quick.

This one belongs on the list: Don't mess with the 12th Man

That was the most excited and most fun I have ever had in a single moment of a football game as a 14 year old screaming my head off standing next to my Dad.

This one was before my time but is still awesome: Bounce pass vs the sips

Kevin Murray's TD pass while getting pummeled to Tony Thompson who bobbled it and pulled it in to complete the 17 point comeback win over Baylor 31-30 and clear the path for a back to back SWC Title: 3:08 mark

Great list. I'll second the McGee play, he was a tough sonofabitch, for real....esp that game

2006 Red Bryant blocking the XP at oSU in OT was spectacular. I couldn't remember what Dave said, but i had no idea what happened for about 30 seconds.

2006 was a special year. average team that played pretty darn well and above their paygrade a lot of the year. close losses to Tech and OU kept it from being a really good year.

And we all only remember Dave because it wasn't on TV.

Jackie Sherril's third year. Had gone 5-6 and 5-5-1 the first two. Would go 6-5 this time. Went to Austin at 5-5 and the underdog. Beat them 37-12. At some point in the game (I'm thinking 3rd Quarter) we still had them scoreless. The game was over. They lined up to kick a field goal to get of the schneid and salvage some pride. Domingo Bryant blocked the kick right into the arms of Scott Polk. He trucked downfield 80 yards and got caught at the 5. It sucked that we ended up getting only 3 out of it.

It was a better play then than it would be today because in those days in college football you couldn't advance a fumble. That the ball went from the kicker's foot to Domingo's hands to Scott's chest was practically a miracle. It felt like all those decades of tu's always getting the miracles had finally ended. It marked a turning point in Aggie football. Things were pretty good for a while after that.

I think some Aggie even wrote a poem about it.

All things considered, "He got a touchdown" is hard to beat.

Hargett to Long in '67 also deserves to be in the conversation.

The Everett INT vs. Alabama probably did as much to kick-start the Kyle renovation as anything.

But the sack and fumble recovery after the Bonfire tragedy--that goes beyond great and well into Divine Intervention territory.
