I don't see any adjustments being made to the offense at all. The play calling is so predictable that I can tell you what we going to run and if I can do it I know damn well the opposing coaches can too. The oline sucks but DC knows this and has said we are 2 years away there we need to bring in some real RBs and pick a fricking offensive identity and learn to run it.

What happened to the days when WE would dictate things on offense? When we showed up in other fools' cribs and punched them right in the mouth on the first drive and didn't let up?

Oh yeah....certain people aren't here anymore. Too bad, so sad.

We know what works on offense. SUMLIN knows what works. It ain't whatever the frick you call this bullshite we run on that side of the ball right now, that's for damn sure.

Fix it.

Yep, I'm sorry it has come to this but it's what I've been saying and I really wish I was wrong.

On an unrelated note there are a couple of posts in the Kyler/Spav thread that need to been removed for tmc's sake. Nevermind they edited them.

Yeah I hadn't been reading that thread, but glad they were edited. Don't need to get anyone in trouble or anything.

I place most of the blame on the collapse this season on Spavital

That's because you're a smart fella. I scream at the TV every time we throw horizontally. That shite has never worked, but we keep doing it. And not as a failsafe, but as a designed play. It's maddening. We have all these hotshit receivers and we're throwing 0-yard bubble screens. AAAAARRRRGGGHHH. Old lady and thorn-in-my-side SafetySam has been pestering me about Spavital for a while and I've kept on thinking it will all come together. But I don't see it.

As for Sumlin, he recruited John fricking Chavis. Possibly the greatest coaching coupe in history. The most important position outside of head coach, and Sumlin got the very best in the country at it. We'd be insane to entertain notions of firing Sumlin.

Right now outside of Spavital it seems to me the most disappointing coach is Dave Christenson. I've no idea what is going on with our offensive line. They're bad.

The only issue I have with your declaration is "the collapse this season". We're 5-2. Probably going to end up 9-3. That's not "the collapse". But I do think Spavital needs to go.

This is true, and is also why he either needs to take the reins of the offense himself or pull another coup and find a competent, non-bubble screen throwing OC. Possibly both of those steps need to be taken in the coming weeks/offseason.

And, yes, we will probably finish with a respectable record, but much like last year, the total tally of wins/losses don't really tell the entire story. We cratered last season and Sumlin made the right move to save that iteration of the team. But after all the talk of "this year is different" and putting on the front that they'd learned/grown from last year's debacle, the EXACT same thing has happened. No, OM didn't beat us 59-0, but they should have had they not stepped on their own dicks so many times and thanks to us actually having a good defense this year. But the tenor was the same, from a QB looking absolutely broken to possible strife in the locker room, and it's more alarming this go-round because it's so uncannily similar to last year.

Maybe he'll pull a rabbit out of the hat again, but regardless, whatever's going on ain't good, and while I'll stop WELL short of calling for Sumlin's job, he and his entire staff should be under the microscope from here on out.

It all starts with KDS, though.

Sumlin and Spav fricked up this game royally

Should have benched Allen the entire second half and run with Murray or Hubenak ( since apparently Murray is in the doghouse)

That was amateur hour out there tonight

We had 192 total yds tonight and 100 yds in penalties. That's got a faul aroma to it. 2nd year in a row that KDS has faced a situation in which the wheels have come completely off. He steadied the ship last year. Can he do it again?

It would seem by any estimation that KDS was taking a huge risk by hiring an unproven (and very young) OC. The risk, of course, is that you're going with someone who has to learn on the job. Far far from an expert here, but Spav just looks to be in over his head right now. No way we're ever gonna win big in the SEC West without maximum production from both coordinators. I can't see how KDS can avoid making a change. The only question is how long he waits.

This is what I find most alarming. I like sumlin, I want him to succeed here, but it appears now that he has a fractured locker room two years in a row. That completely falls on him and the atmosphere he's either created or allowed to take place.

The management, or mismanagement, of the qb's is a scary proposition for a coach who was once thought to be a qb savant. It's becoming painfully clear that his offenses aren't his offenses at all, and are in fact the product of his coordinators. From kingsbury to McKinney to Spavital There appears to be no cohesive idea or personality between the three changes, and I never thought that would be the case.

I don't like this style of offense at all. I think there's been some arrogance involved, thinking that this offense can run itself once installed. In spite of all the Kliff love, weren't alot of people happy with the McKinney choice at the time, arguing that he would help us run the ball more effectively? That's what I recall.
