Somewhere between this shite show, this little gem popped up from the mouth of chin pubes
quote:

Out of respect for Kyle, I didn't break the news because he needed to be prepared for the onslaught that was going to come when Sumlin and A&M eventually put out the official, carefully worded and clean and sanitary press release.

Of course he knew... . Liucci reminds me of one of those guys who sits watching Jeopardy saying "I knew that" after a contestant answers the correct answer. He's literally Captain Hindsight. Someone cue the Photoshop of Cpt. Hindsight with pubes!

i go out drinking for my bday wondering if we'll ever have a new OC. i come home to find out the kyle frickin allen is transferring !?/1! is it cause our dummy coach is gunna keep spav as OC ?!
did we really end up "aggie-ing" one of the best periods in our history..?

The opposite. Spav's impending termination, if anything, only helped encourage Allen's transfer.

If we actually fire Spav, and if that is a big part of the reason Kyle is leaving, then I think that is a fair bargain. Something had to change.

With that said, I fricking hate how many ifs are in that statement. Sumlin better give us a rockstar OC or next season is a lame duck.

Far more complicated than that. Kyle was extremely unhappy with the way Sumlin handled his injury, the multiple so-called QB competitions, and then relegating him to third-string. The last straw was when Sumlin planned on reopening the QB competition for the bowl game.

If that is the case I can't blame Kyle at all. Heck that is pretty much running him off if true. Too bad the Sumlin regime is like the KGB so we don't have clear answers. I guess not having them doesn't change anything though.

How did Sumlin handle his injury? What specifically is Kyle unhappy about?

Kyle had a separated shoulder and shouldn't have been playing. Coaches made the decision to play him, and he threw 22 straight incompletions against Ole Miss. Sumlin refused to pull him because he didn't want to address questions about why Murray wasn't playing. So Sumlin kept Kyle in there and embarrassed him on national TV. Then, Sumlin continued to deny that Kyle had an injury and announced a QB competition. Kyler "won" the competition and Sumlin relegated Kyle to third-string. Except, Kyle was actually injured and couldn't play. Sumlin portrayed Kyle as an interception-prone quarterback who "lost" his job instead of an injured quarterback who should not have been playing.

I'll be the first to admit Sumlin has royally screwed up the QB position the latest 2 years.

But, in my opinion, Kyle is not an innocent bystander. First he's unhappy with having to split snaps. Then he's unhappy with getting all the snaps.

If he's hurt, he 100% has the right to publicly state that he's hurt. If he feels his rep is taking a hit, he can do something about it.

And he hurt the team by not pulling himself if knew he was hurt and unable to perform. He's looking out for himself, and I don't blame him one bit. But it seems people are a little one-sided in this.

Did you not read Sam Khan's article where he directly quoted Kyle Allen about his injury?

I did read that article. I also read Kyle insist that he wasn't hurt. I don't think any party handled it right, but Sumlin should be held to a higher standard.

I have been a Sumlin supporter/apologist since day 1 and leading up to this year. This season eroded the majority of the capital that he had.

He has ONE (and I mean fricking UNO) chance to right this ship. Whiff on any aspect of the offense this year, and that's it.

In this conference, we don't have time to play patty cake. He was the right helmsman for our transition to this new era of Aggie football--I'll always stand by that. But if he ain't the man for us in the conference long term, we can't afford NOT to cut bait.

I'm where you're at. I think he modernized us and did some pretty good things, but it's not mattering anymore. All the 5 star recruits in the world mean nothing if you don't know how to use them or if they leave because you fricked up. He gets another year, but we deserve better than this. No offense to Sumlin but this is a results oriented business and we need better results.
