I haven't watched any games, but just looking at the shooting lines of our guys last night...I know BK isn't the greatest, but what is he supposed to do when we're shooting 25% as a team from the floor?

There will be nights where the shots won't go down. However, that does not excuse our poor shooting at the free throw line. The Ags went 13-22 (59%), which is in line with our team's average during conference play. We have a grand total of 1 player (Jones) who shoots 80% from the line.

BK is responsible for our consistently poor free throw shooting, as good coaching can make a difference at the line.

Better FT shooting wouldn't have made the difference in last night's game, but it did make a difference in several of our conference losses this year.

This is the one thing I'll definitely put on BK. There needs to be a huge focus on it in the offseason.

Looking back on my predictions for conference games:

We lost 2 of the 6 games we should have easily won.

We lost 2 of the 5 games we should have definitely lost.

We won 2 of the 7 tossup games and lost 3 with 2 remaining.

We basically traded 2 sure wins for 2 sure losses (6-5) and split the rest on the low end for tossups.

With the remaining schedule, I will concede that, barring a complete and total meltdown, the most likely to least likely finish is:

9-9
10-8
8-10

That's easy. He ought to run a system that generates more high percentage plays. Then, he ought to teach our players how to execute it. Throw in some basic coaching, like how properly set a screen, how to come off a screen, and how to cut to the basket after setting a screen, and wouldn't you know our team would start shooting better.

From Logan Lee:
quote:

Shawn Smith will miss the game to take some time away to deal with personal issues. Smith was becoming a semi-normal fixture to the starting lineup and in his absence Billy Kennedy will need to find a replacement for Shawn's defensive presence.

This couldn't have come at a worse time because Ole Miss is a guard oriented team on offense with Henderson and Summers scoring almost half of their teams points per game this season.

Fabyon Harris will also miss today's game and possibly more than that after passing out during A&M's practice today. He was taken to the hospital for "precautionary observation" and will await results.

With the loss of Davonte Fitzgerald, Harris has been asked to help in the scoring department and now BK will have to find another way to put points on the board. Please keep Fabyon in your prayers.

Who needs these guys when you have someone like Blake McDonald on the bench?

...and as soon as I typed the statement above, McDonald hit his first three point shot of his career. McDonald is a senior.

Before today, Kyle Dobbins hasn't played more than 2 minutes in a game this season. Due to the lack of numbers at guard, he's had to make a special appearance in the 1st half.

I'll be semi-impressed if the Ags win today's game, but not in a Billy Kennedy should be retained for a fourth year-type impressed.

When Kennedy checked Dobbins in, I told my brother that if I'm Ole Miss's coach, I'm either posting him up or running an iso against him until we take him out. 2 possessions later...

Yeah, it's essentially 4-on-5 when either Dobbins or McDonald is on the floor.

Without question, that play will wind up on SportsCenter.

On the fast break, Caruso goes with the behind-the-back crossover and proceeds to posterize Marshall Henderson.

Throw it down, big fella, throw it down.

Billy Kennedy said that Fabyon Harris was non-responsive on the floor for 5 minutes during pre-game shootaround. Had an irregular heartbeat.

Kennedy said that Harris is doing better now and sent text to the team before the game to help motivate them to play hard without him.
