I'm just gonna leave this here

Obviously a number of SEC fans don't think it's all about the S$E$C. Obviously, a lot of SEC fans have taken up the aggy tradition of understanding it doesn't really matter until it is measured against the burnt orange yardstick. Eleventy billion dollars per school each year. Isn't that the latest the redneck accountants have convinced themselves the cash flows are? "Can we git that on a WalMart gift card?" Based on the wording of the DirecTV announcement, this appears to be a stop-gap. They couldn't wait any longer because they were hemorrhaging customers so they made a stand alone SECN deal until the overall Disney deal is completed. That probably means they paid full freight.

I kinda smelled that, myself. Congrats to DirecTV users! And congrats to all in the SEC on this chunk of change. This is a big deal.

Does this mean DirecTV gets ESPN3 and WatchESPN access?

If we win the title this decade, he just might off himself.

More details coming out on DTV

Clearly this is pretty haphazard if they don't even have that detail ironed out.

The network will be part of the Choice tier in SEC states, according to DirecTV. It is undecided on what tier the network will be available for states outside the SEC footprint.

Which one is the choice tier? Is that the normal one?
Posted on 8/4/14 at 7:17 pm to Gradual_Stroke
pretty much. They have like 72 different tiers. It's the cheapest one that has ESPNU, ESPNews, FSSW, FS1, NFLN, MLBtv, etc.
There is one level below it where you can get ESPN and ESPN2 and basically no other sports programming. And it's the next tier up for stuff like NBAtv, NBCSN, FS2. So it's pretty much basic.

My favorite quote is where now he/she/it is whining because there's no way the SEC Network would have distribution if they didn't manipulate their schedule to force demand...as if the Ole Miss/tu game wasn't put on the longhorn network for that very reason...

Verizon needs to get with it. I saw this quote in the Washington Post. It was commenting on the Astronaut from Tennessee who will get the SECN while he will be in the Russian Space Station, soon:

All you need to know when calling Verizon to complain is that Vicksburg Video, with a (guessing) whopping subscriber count of 15,000, has it.
