Been touched on in other threads, but for more in depth discussion, what do you want to see the good guys accomplish this weekend. Where do you expect improvement?

Me:
Defense: I'd like to see at least 2-3 Turnovers, the one INT last week was great but I'd like the D to build some momentum before Arkansas in this department.

Offense: An improved running game (discounting the QB) I'd like to see the Big three gain 150 plus on the ground. I say 150 because I have a feeling Trey or CMike could bust a big one. We're going to have to have a little more balance against Arkansas.

I really doubt we focus on the run game. This is a scrimmage. It's about getting better, not about making anyone feel better about anything.

Offensively we're likely going to work on:
- JFF's progressions
- RB blitz pickups and outlets
- oline cohesion on pass plays

Defensively it's going to probably be more of an audition for various guys. Snyder said Baggs is going to play the hybrid role this week (Hurd did vs the air attack of SMU last). And with Everett moving to safety, I think we need to decide which corners are in the game in various situations.

Yes, I know everyone is insecure about whether we have a power running game. Or whether we get turnovers. But running at will vs SCSU or blitzing the shite out of them is rather pointless. We need to prepare for Arky and La Tech and LSU and that's what we're going to be doing.

Just as long as Dustin Harris stays on the bench where he belongs.

I counted at least 4 long passes that could have been touchdowns were Gilbert not the QB. The man in coverage? Dustin Harris.

yeah what really scares me is our schollie CBs once you move Everett:

- Devante Harris
- Raven
- Jacobs
- Dustin Harris
- Gardiner

I don't remember Gardiner ever really playing so that puts us pretty thin (though obviously if needed Everett could slide back to corner)

As far as Dustin, the kid never played corner til he got to A&M. It's clear he's never really gotten in and I remember Sherm tried him on offense for a bit to try to make better use of him.

Sometimes the light comes on for guys though at the oddest moments. It wasn't that long ago that I had totally written Stewart off and now he's turned into a total badass. We don't need Dustin to have that kind of progression but merely becoming an adequate 4th corner would be nice.

I'd like to see Sumlin put our guys in some uncomfortable situations that they might see down the road. Let our young corners play 1 on 1 coverage against their receivers and things like that so they can get used to it. Even if it costs us some plays or what not. We need to focus on getting better not what the final score is.

Offensively I'd like to see how work on the running game a little and let Johnny sit in the pocket and throw instead of running around on SC State. We know he can do that already.

Even though this is true, I would like to see C Mike break off a few runs and gain some confidence after struggling week 1 and with what happened last week.

Other than that I agree with the rest of your post

I agree that C-Mike needs a big game. A heavy carry load would hurt too. Sometimes people need to see that they are really healthy for themselves.

I agree. I want Michael to get his carries. Michael runs furiously, but I think we will see a very angry C-Mike venting out his frustration on Saturday.

Everett was moved because we needed him more there than at corner. Corner is the position I'm the least worried about on defense. Devante Harris, Floyd Raven are both good. Jacobs is the one who got the pick last week. Week 2 saw a big improvement in tackling, I have to imagine that will continue.

I want to see Manziel throw deep early and often. First off, he needs to continue to get more comfortable doing so that when he plays better teams he won't think twice. Just as importantly I want other teams to see the film of him doing it so that they have to plan on preparing for it.

If we can get teams to respect our deep passing game they are cooked. There is simply too much space left on the field with the offense we run for them to cover it.

I expect we will see a lot more running the ball both because they need the reps and because Sumlin won't want to be too nasty about running the score up. I just hope he doesn't pull the chute too quickly, I'd like to see the 1st and 2nd team get plenty of reps.
