It's not coming league spokespeople and hasn't been confirmed by the league, but calling it "pure speculation" is an improper way of describing it. The list is claimed to have been sourced by those familiar with the process

They're leaks of what the conference has allegedly suggested to the teams. It is definitely more than just speculation at this point.

I think Arkansas is getting screwed here. They're getting Texas, but will lose their rivalries with LSU and A&M. As much as I want Arkansas, I think they're the ones with the legitimate complaint about piss poor pairings. Mizzou and Ole Miss? Yikes.

If I'm an Arkansas fan, I'd gladly give up Texas just to get LSU and A&M back yearly. But they aren't being treated as one of the BIG teams (as it is being rumored), which sucks bigly for them.

I don't think Arkansas fans mind it that much. They prefer Texas to A&M, and I think they want/need an easier schedule.

Getting a more manageable set of opponents in Ole Miss and Mizzou (vs LSU and A&M) is probably great news to them.

Arkansas wants Mizzou and Texas

These are good rivalries for them. Texas is traditional but Mizzou is natural geographically and will grow stronger

IF that list is true I like that A&M is the only one of the four recent SEC expansion schools that will get LSU along with another SEC charter member. Tenner lucked out despite Carolina's recent improvement. I figured Arky would get OU, but the Sooners might have wanted an East school, and they have more history with Mizzou anyway. Arky-Ole Miss has had some great games over the years so I'm not surprised about that one. Plus they're only two hours apart.

Seems like a good compromise overall, but of course Bama may be flipping out about theirs and trying to change it.

Saban has already whined about the rumored pairings for Bama

What about Alabama’s would they want to change? They got their three most desired games

It may not be a done deal but It’s certainly more than “pure speculation” as several people from CFB reporters to team insiders like liucci have pointed to the same pairings.

They currently have the toughest trio and just lost to two of them.

Toughest? Tennessee, LSU and Auburn have all been easy W’e for them over most of the last decade

They want their most desirable rivals and they got them

We wanted Arkansas and lsu and horn

We got 2 out of 3

If we had gotten Kentucky vandy and USC…

Easier yes but we would be pissed

Bama's been beating everybody for 15 years which is beside the point that they got the toughest draw. Why do you think Saban's unhappy about it? I know he won't miss an opportunity to influence the narrative for his team's playoff chances so maybe it's about that more than anything else.

Nick probably would have preferred to keep playing State every year, but Bama wasn't going to give up the UT game, and the ratings are too high for the LSU game not to happen.

One thing I did not think about until I heard Ross talk about it is that the season is likely going to start earlier with the expanded playoffs. So rivalry week is not the weekend before Thanksgiving and Thanksgiving weekend is now championship weekend.

An Lsu fan of all people brought this up in a thread on the rant. 4 teams have rivalry games with OOC opponents. I assume these will be kept. The teams that don't are:
MSU/OM
Bama/Auburn
UT/Vandy
OU (I guess Bedlam is out for now)/MU
Arky/tu
A&M/Lsu

The only way to match up those 10 teams is as I did. You couldn't do it another way that made sense and kept the 3 "leaked" perm rivals.

This. I'm kinda meh on State being our third perm instead of Arky, but they really did get the short end of the stick.

Piggy doesn't deserve anything good

I'm fine with having State as a perma, I even have a name suggestion:

tMaroon War

If y'all have any better names for this annual matchup don't be afraid to plead your case

We need to make this more fun my brothers in Aggiehood

Yeah, it's whatever. We usually have good games with them, and culturally it makes sense with both Ag schools/color schemes. I'm fine with it, just not overly enthused. Never know, though, that may develop into a feisty rivalry eventually.

We already have tGulfWar vs. lsu, so I usually call our State game the "Maroon Bowl."

And I really wish Adidas would make that game a permanent showcase for alternate uniforms for both schools (a la 2012). Both teams wearing our standard kits when facing off is very humdrum, IMO.

We have:

tSouthwest Classic
tGulf War
tMaroon Bowl
tLonestar Showdown

alot of "the" in our rivalry names

Has anyone discussed who we want to play at the end of the season?

Arky wants to play tu
