So, it looks like the new SEC football scheduling format will be three "permanent" rivals per team. Who would you like to see as the Ags' three? For me:

'sips
LSU
Arkansas

======================

Query:
What happens to the Bonham Trophy?

Texas, LSU, Arky
If we can’t get Arky I’d like Ole Miss

We're probably going to get Texas, LSU, and Mississippi State. Why MSU? I have no idea, but that's what all the leaks point to. I'd love to keep Arkansas but doubt it happens.

Saw an article this morning putting us with tu, OU and Miss St. Would hate that trio.
Really want tu, LSU and Miss St/Arky if this is the way it will go.

I think most people want what you have listed, historical rivals that we have the most history with.

Several leaks have said tu, LSU, and MSU. I guess that's not terrible but would much prefer Arky.

Bonham trophy probably goes away, lets be honest, it was kind of a forced rivalry with USCe anyways. 2022 was the first time they beat us, ever. Lets just make sure to win this coming season so we can take the trophy back and keep it for eternity.

LSU vs A&M is too good for the networks to let it go. Even with lsu dominating for the most part it’s become a must watch rivalry game.

Losing Pig and LSU for OU and Mississippi State would be horrible. You could combine the amount of times we’ve played OU (31) and Mississippi State (16) and it would still be less than how many times we’ve played LSU (61) and Arkansas (79).

That would be awful. I give (quite literally) not one crap about OU.

I think it's obvious we'll get tu which we 100% should. Easy choice.

Lsu is our SEC Rival. We play them during rivalry week. We have played them 61 times in our history while only being in a conference for them for a decade. It makes perfect sense geographically.

Finally, the 3rd choice should be Arky, but this one seems least likely. Arkansas is going to want to play tu. OU and MU are going to need dance partners that make sense too. Maybe they keep the boot thing going with Lsu. I think their dance card fills up before we can lock them in as our #3.

That leaves the rumored MSU. Pretty boring, but it's probably a good idea to have a lesser program in our group of 3 even tho MSU has played us very very well historically. It's like 90s/00s Tech all over again.

I 100% cannot see us getting OU or MU if it means we're not getting tu or Lsu. So 0% chance we get them both. Either one or the other after tu and Lsu.

tu is gonna stroll in here and get all their historic rivals while everyone else has to take a bite of the shite sandwich.

At the end of the day, I think ESPN is going to dictate the permanent rivalries to the SEC. This is all about money and the sec wants to keep the highest rated matchups alive for the sake of $$$. I think all the major players are going to get two no brainers and one modest opponent that should be a winnable matchup.

LSU, Texas, and Mississippi State fits that bill for us. Texas is drawing historically harder permanent opponents than we are. Oklahoma is getting a comparable schedule to us with Texas, Florida, and Missouri.

Until I see otherwise, I'm skeptical Bjork is the big swinging dick we need in our corner to get Texas, LSU and Arkansas as permanent games.

That guy is a total chode. He has a big mouth and embarrassed us during the UT/OU to SEC saga.

I'm not sure why he's still around (well, we know why...the question is which regent is his handler)

That has more to do with so few teams fitting with them. They're the new guys. They have no history with anyone other than OU, A&M, Arkansas, and somewhat Mizzou. The teams that make the most sense also want to play them (OU, A&M, Arky).

They have more history with Missouri than we have with Mississippi State. That's all I'm saying.

Lol damn, I wondered if that sip/Mizzou comment was legit and turns out they’ve played 24 times. Oddly enough, Mizzou has also played SMU more times (23 going 8-13-2) than we’ve played Miss State.

I think the league us going about this the wrong way b/c they are so set on making sure you play everyone every 4 years. Does that even really matter as much now w/how few guys actually last that long? Obviously something us playing Georgia so little should be avoided but it’s not like most people are going to be mad at sometimes playing home games vs schools like USCe, Ole Miss, Miss State, Kentucky, Vandy, or Missouri every 8 years instead of every 4.

I’d rather they have started from a place of “We must have certain matchups yearly no matter what” and then worked back from there to do the schedules. If some teams only got 2 permanent rivals while others have 4-5 it’s fine. It’s not like a “fair” schedule can ever be made anyway and it’s a lock it will expand again making playing everyone even harder so they should just lean into how it used to be common for some SEC teams to play each other infrequently.

t.u., lsu, arky. That's the only triumvirate that makes sense.

Can't we just win it back this year and then continue to hold it by beating them however often we play?

Also, I don't think that trophy actually did anything. Rick made it and kept it then it was never seen again.
