They are making fun of him on every single show on Ticket 760 today.

ETA: One of the hosts on Jay Mohr's show was answering calls impersonating him

This is the quote that gets me ( ESPN):
quote:

"They can get anyone they want. They can close their eyes and go 'Eeny-meeny-miny-moe' and end up with someone good."

And that right there is it.
In a nutshell.
Elderly man is totally out of touch.

The thing about it is he can really hurt them on a financial level so you know they are gonna bow down to him until he dies and leaves them a huge chunk of his wealth

I think once upon a time that would've been true, Agforlife.
But gone are the days when their only two BMDs are McCombs & Jamail.
They've got enough of a "new generation" of very wealthy donors that I think they'll be fine without ol' racist McCombs.
Probably better off, actually.

I agree they will be better off without him but I still think they are gonna kiss his old arse for the payoff at the end. They need a complete culture change in the athletic department and I just don't it happening as long as he's alive. I could be wrong won't be the first and certainly not the last time I was

In addition to his already existing statue in the Red McCombs Red Zone at DKR ...

... Now that his BFF is gone, something tells me that his business school at UT will receive the only donated portion of his estate.

All that money and they're eating out of paper players and sitting in shitty plastic chairs.

Paper plates are far easier to clean up and leave less of a mess. You've never thrown a large party with older folks, I assume.

Clean up? I'm pretty sure Red would be happy to hire Charlie Strong to do that.

is that a real quote?

When I listened to the interview this morning the best part was when he was asked that if maybe the leadership did this because some believe boosters have too much power at Texas, and McCombs replied that it was a “kick in the face.”

If you all want to listen, I recommend it:

Honestly would have laughed in your face 5 years ago if you tried to tell me there would be a time when both the flagship schools in Texas had black coaches.

Me too.

And I'm sure most not connected to either school would have laughed doubly hard if you'd said A&M would lead the way on that front
