Co OC/Running backs - McKinny
Co OC/QBs - Spavital (WVU)
WR/recruiting coordinator - Beaty
Special Teams - Banks (UTEP/UV)

What do y'all think? I love all the moves Sumlin made. It also sounds like TTU won't be stealing our LB coach either.

McKinny will have the title OC and all play calling; Spavital will likely get co-OC and coordinate (with Beaty) passing game but co title is only to provide a hire pay and entice to come what is in reality a lateral move.

You won't see "Co-OC" next to McKinny's name on the website.

I like the changes, really love the Spavital hire. I just don't know enough about Banks but supposedly he impressed coaching against Sumlin at UTEP

McKinney won me over with the play calling in the Cotton Bowl. Happy he got the OC gig.

Sumlin began his coaching career under Mike Price at WSU and supposedly they are still close. Banks didn't get to WSU til after Sumlin left but Banks mentioned Sumlin as a "friend" so clearly they know each other. Sumlin has a pretty large coaching roladex at this point and I think both of these guys were guys he's been keeping up with.

I'm actually a bit surprised that KK didn't contact Spavital about his OC position but I don't think he has much money to spend on coaches and one way to save is to be his own OC so he can pay defensive coaches more. That's Tech's problem in paying KK so much - it left little more for assistants. Sumlin has a good amount to spend so he can moneywhip guys as needed.

Not sure if I want the guy who coached Geno Smith to completely disappear in big games to coach our Heisman winner.
