I’m optimistic about this season.

9-3 or GTFO. And even that feels like a low bar given the fact that he is in year 6. Either we get good before Texas gets here or we start fresh before we begin this new era in SEC play.

Now is not the time for stagnation.

I agree with you. But I bet we’re stuck with Jimbo till at least 2026 regardless of how bad he does. I hope I’m wrong. I hope if he can’t get it right by 2024 they move on and start fresh

I think that our boosters are already looking past this season for obvious reasons. If Jimbo can't show that he is ready for 2024, then he needs to go.

A buyout that big will require the Houston and Dallas boosters to put aside their differences and pool their money together. The possibility of limping into 2024 may very well do that.

I know I'll sound like a broken record at this point, but I still maintain you cant just look at Jimbo's salary in a vaccum as the only item to consider. If we have another bad season, interest and support for the program will start to decline (already probably has to some extent) that will cost you money as well. So what ends up costing you more money? Slowing dontations and support or paying a big buyout? You might as well bite the bullet and start out fresh, re-energize the fanbase, and bring support back to come out money ahead at the end of the day.

All that's to say I dont think we are "trapped" with him until some set date.
