Then don't use stupid examples/comparisons to prove your point. Stick to the facts.
Comparison of coaches isn't a fact, it's an opinion. And I'm probably in the minoroty that believes Harbaugh won't last longer than 5 years at Michigan. He has a small history of rubbing people the wrong way.

I heard some national guys talking about this too. I think they said he might actually be interviewed for some NFL jobs again this offseason.

Harbaugh will never stay at a place longer than five years. He's an unbearable arse to work with.

I can see him leaving for the NFL. And I can see him staying at Michigan for more than 5 years.
I can't see him going to another school or Michigan firing him for poor performance within the next 3 years. Wild card is him body slamming a kid or a ref

Nobody thought that the 49ers would get rid of Harbaugh after 2013 but one year later and the 49ers were begging people to take him off their hands. They rather have a shitty team than have Jim Harbaugh coach them.

He is in no way worse than Saban. Saban is on,y loved because he wins - many boosters and other coaches can't stand him.

Harbaugh is a throwback to an earlier time. He's in the mold of Schrmbechler, Elliot and John Cooper. It's my way or the highway. UofM knew what they were getting and jumped in with both feet. He will be given a relative measure of autonomy at UofM that he wouldn't get at another NFL stop. I think he's there for a decade or more.

You guys don't know bad contracts.
Look at the Sips...
1) They had to pay Mack Brown $2.75M and had to keep him on staff at $500K per year. This doesn't include association staff.
2) Hey supposedly paid strong over $30 million so far. This includes salary and the Louisville buyout. I don't believe this includes associate to staff. Plus imagine all of the firings that strong did over his short tenure.
3) now they are apparently trying to renegotiate Tom Herman's buyout according to DMN.
Tom Herman's contract is a 5-year deal worth $28.75 million, according to the Austin American-Statesman. The salary starts at $5.25 million and rises annually to $6.25 million in the final year. The buyout if Herman were to leave is $3 million per year, plus money for assistants. President Greg Fenves says UT is negotiating the $2.5 million buyout owed to Houston.

The power struggle between Harbaugh and the 49er front office was well-known after the 2013 season.

I've been told to expect Hines, Gumbs and Sheffield to all be Aggies by Monday.
We landed one of the three. Was there a specific reason why we were to expect a flip & commit from the other two by today? I believe Hines was the only one with a scheduled announcement
Hines was a big get

Yeah there's already talk of him leaving Michigan to go coach the Los Angeles Rams.

Didn't know where to put this and didn't feel like starting a whole new thread about it.
This thread on the rant LINK has a link to coaching salaries per win and you can see Sumlin is pretty far down the list. While I think it's slightly flawed for looking only at one year and I'd like to see a price per win over their lifetime at a school, it's still an important metric in my opinion.
You don't pay a top 10 salary for 8-4 seasons, second half season collapses, and never sniffing a championship.
But a hilarious side note is how much Texas was paying per win with strong.

No doubt, Sumlin needs to average 9-10 to earn that money

For five mil a year he should be contending for the west EVERY year and be winning sugar and cotton bowls. His floor should be 10 wins. We should expect to beat bama and LSU at home and win all our other games. And we shouldn't lose to anybody from the east

Meh, five million a year isn't what it used to be in coaching salaries. Now that is basically the minimum amount to say you care about trying to be better than average. In fact the original Sumlin extension (and then Texas copying us with Strong because Lord knows they can't seem worse than us) is part of why the coaching salary market is screwed up today.
By your standard Jim Harbaugh should win two national titles every year for getting paid nine million a year. The salaries have gotten out of control and we have to live with it.

Or how about that Harbaugh won't suddenly start sucking?
Dude. It's Jim fricking harbaugh. It's not in his DNA to be a loser. Have you seen the guy? He shows more intensity on the field every single game than his players do. He's got more intensity in his pinky than Sumlin does in his whole body. Lets stop pretending like anybody actually thinks harbaugh will start to suck. He's already doing more with less talent than Sumlin has.

The whorns would have killed to get 7 wins for their 5 mil per year

Yes and No. Sumlin has the 6th highest contract in NCAA, and i'd bet it's the highest of all time that is 100% guaranteed.
