Would they have better production with a top coach, is kennedy holding this squad back? Or is Kennedy a really good coach who's been plagued with inferior talent until now?

The amalgam of Dean Smith, Adolph Rupp, Mike Krzyzewski, Bobby Knight, Tom Izzo, Jim Boeheim, and Gregg Popovich couldn't have done anything about the shitty officials.

This would probably be a one loss team with a higher MOV.

That said, even the best teams have clunker games where it wasn't your night for whatever reason. To turn it over, what, 20+ times on the road and still have a good look to send it to OT isn't a bad look at all, tbh.

Bud Walton is a tough arena and the zebras weren't doing us any favors.

I've never seen a top 5 team and specifically a POTY candidate get less benefit of the doubt.

I think Kennedy is a below average coach, but the coaching split he's got with Stansbury is working very well with this group of players. No complaints about his coaching, (though I still expect us to Kennedy a time or two this season haha)

This team makes the elite 8 at a minimum with good coaching.

We ought to ask this question about the football program.

Whoever else we could have hired originally or could have hired if we fired BK at some point would have won national champs every single year, minimum. I'm not putting it past this mythical coach to time travel back and win old championships too.

We're one fire away from the glory land, I know it in my aggy bones.

Ok before we shift to football a real honest question:

Firing Stansbury is considered by some the worst mistake MSU ever made. Since he is part of the staff, doesn't that reflect positively on the head coach? Isn't coaching a group effort?

Will hang up and listen.

In football, very much so.

In basketball, significantly less so. At least when it comes to the Xs and Os.

It's basketball--wtf games happen with regularity.

But damn, bad time for a wtf game. Gotta be more mentally prepared than that on the road.

And, yes, that falls on the coach.

Vanderbilt was picked 2nd in the SEC in preseason and Stallings is difficult to beat at home.
