Whittingham was just extended in 2016. If you know the history between the Eccles family (one half of the Utah stadium name) and Michael Young, you know that they will throw everything they have to keep him from going to A&M as long as Michael Young is president.

For reference

That's interesting. Looks like a Utah guy so hard to believe he'd leave at age 57.

Well it’s all speculation at this point: maybe the family will pony up so he doesn’t go to the same university Young is at. Maybe the guy on texags who knows him is right and now that his kids are out of the house he would look at a change in school.

The point is everybody loves to use the phrase “at least call him and make him tell us no” so they can justify throwing out whatever name they please. Then the same should be said about this guy, he’s got good credentials and is only making 3.3 million a year. He’s no more unrealistic than James Franklin, David Shaw, or Mike Gundy who I’ve seen thrown out a lot. And if you believe the guy on texags (I don’t completely, not after MF Barnes) then maybe we actually have a better chance than we think.

After watching film on Bret Bielema teams I have to say Id be fine with him coaching here in some capacity next year. It wont happen but I wouldn't be disappointed if it did. I guess Im just yearning for a tough and disciplined football team again.

Then why are you casting your gaze upon fat Bert?

Arky has been neither of those things under him. They had a pretty good (and extremely dirty) o-line for a couple of years and that's about it.

I would say they've been a pretty physical team under Bret. We typically come out of that game banged up.

I'd argue most of the injuries were caused by the core of that aforementioned dirty o-line. Maybe it's just me but I don't consider diving at people's knees to be true physical play.

I actually like the idea of potentially poaching Dan Enos as OC, especially if we bring in a defensive head coach like Durkin or something. I like his schemes he just has no talent to scheme too at Arkansas. And he has developed a couple of QBs there.

They run a smash mouth style of football that is inherently tough, physical and requires discipline. Maybe they were also a bit dirty but I dont care. I'm tired of getting blown off the ball on offense. If you have to cut the opposing teams Myles Garret then do so. He's not off limits just because he's a great player. Line up under center, hand the ball off and gain two to three yards. We haven't been able to do that in 4 years and its unbearable to watch. We havent even been able to do it against schools with ADs that are likely in the red financially. Its frustrating. Bret teams ran the ball effectively on LSU the two years before last. Better than what has happened here and doing so with far less potential and talent. I was kidding with the hiring Bret idea but I absolutely loved their style of offense.

You love lining up and running it 2-3 yards? You do realize they have one if the worst offenses in the SEC this year and there are a lot like of bad offenses. How did their OL look in OT when they needed to gain one yard a few years ago? Sure their OL went low on Myles, but that didn't stop us from abusing Allen all game long. I think some people are so unhappy with Sumlin that is drive them to be a little irrational.

The one time I really showed my arse in an in-game thread . That was the first and last time I checked TD at the bar.

I wouldn't be a fan of hiring Enos. I'm not sure we have the personnel to completely switch to smashmouth, and I haven't seen enough from him to warrant blaming ineptitude on lack of talent.

I would prefer the Ohio State system of spreading the field while maintaining a power run, but I am often wrong, so I will sit back and see how it goes.

Same here. Spread offense, but can still line up under center and grind out yards if need be.

And I truly hope Bielema was a joke, dude is 10-22 in conference play and the only coach our poser of a HC can consistently beat. And Arkansas has had us just about down in a couple of games and given them away. No way I want that dude coaching here, he’s worse than sumlin.

Quoting myself here from a different thread earlier in the week.

Miss St will probably be pretty decent this year, but I want to see them play more games than just a vastly overrated LSU.

Told y’all. Too much overreacting in CFB these days. Mullen is a decent coach, but he’s not elite like everybody makes him out to be, the SEC is just full of mediocre coaches right now.

Saw the UK game this weekend. I kind of like what Stoops has built at a basketball school. He could be great at a school with more resources. I really like Brohm, but he isn't leaving after one year. Chad continues to win. Frank Wilson is one I'm starting to watch, simply because he is winning with the SEC mindset. Durkin having some BAD luck in Maryland

I'm still thinking it with be Chad. But give him a good DC, and it is off to the races
