Not sure if he has been at A&M long enough to judge but his long term impact at SC will turn in significant results.

We've built new athletic and academic (for athletes), and infrastructure facilities for football, basketball, softball, and tennis (among others I believe). Although these took time to build, and some are still under construction, we've made great strides as an athletic department.

He is essentially a big part of why we finally have SEC worthy athletic infrastructure.

However, people were mad at first because many Gamecock fans wanted to be more successful, but didn't realize they'd have to pay for it. Once Gamecock fans bought into it, were willing to pay more, the effects starting to become noticeable.

As far as his hires go I know he hired Dawn Staley for WBB (huge success), Darrin Horn for MBB (huge failure), and Frank Martin for MBB (TBD, but considered a big coup to get him from K-State) and Beverly Smith for softball (still aren't world beaters but have had a significant, albeit slow, climb, out of the cellar)

Hence the obvious conflict between them. The AD may not oversee Sumlin but they both share control over the same stuff from different viewpoints.

He may not be Sumlin's boss in name, but I can't see how you could say he isn't in reality

Hyman sets athletic department policy that Sumlin and his staff must follow but that's no different than HR at your place of employment setting policies you have to follow (and frankly most of them are exactly those sorts of policies). It doesn't mean you report thru the HR hierarchy.

Sumlin doesn't report to Hyman. He didn't report to Dollar Bill either. All other coaches do. Sumlin reports directly to the Regent liaison for athletics (as I believe, does Hyman and our compliance office). And the conflict between the two is massively overblown anyway.

So who makes the decisions on player discipline? Suspensions and so forth?

I'm going to revise his men's basketball grade to F in light of today's news.

Buzz took a pay-cut from $3MM to $2.3MM to go to Va Tech. His buyout was only $100,000.

In light of that news, Hyman's grade should be F.

Hyman should get an F for tampering with our football program and insisting on draconian drug policy for fricking weed.

in the thread on Golden's arrest, the general thought process is we need to be harsher on weed because of all our problems.
