Digging way back in the memory bank here, but my recollection is that the administration was kind of letting Journalism wither on the vine long before the decision to close it was made. I honestly don't know how much say Rick Perry had in that.

Much of the administration was cold to liberal arts in general, but other departments had their own donors and support. I'm sure a lot of the brass would have been happy to dump History or Political Science long ago if only they weren't part of the core curriculum and didn't have direct donors.

rick perry is the epitome of the good ole baw network at play in Southern politics. However, I think his progenitors and benefactors misunderestimated the depth and breadth of his stupidity. He's a dumb mother fricker.
