Dr. Duke was in the trauma room when JFK was assassinated and he worked on Gov. Connally as well.

He also started Life Flight, one of the early air ambulance services.

RIP Dr. Duke

Saw him around the hospital several times back in May/June and he was still in good spirits and friendly as ever despite failing health. He was one of my favorite attendings, I worked with him on a trauma surgery rotation third year.

As a kid, I very vividly remember thinking how cool his parents must be to name him Red Duke. I was a little crushed when I found out Red wasn't really his name.

Never met him or anything but by all accounts he was a pretty amazing man

Met Red Duke only once in 1986 when he asked for directions to the cafeteria in Cain Hall. He was friendly and had a rare legit confidence.

I still refer to every air ambulance service as Life Flight. Kind of like Kleenex and tissues.

We must protect the Ark, there are two down votes. Time to start pulling some credentials.
