Does it benefit us any to run up the score on New Mexico?

Seems like we will need style points this week to show that Bama didn't take our soul.
I know it's not Sumlins way but a 60-3 game would make a point.

It cannot hurt. Really I think it matters more what everyone else does at this point. If we could make a few headlines with Williams getting 200 yards or something crazy then any pub would be nice.

We are getting judged by our close wins over tenn and Ucla, we need to throttle our two remaining cupcakes and State to balance it out

Winning 62-3 or 52-13 isn't going to make much of a difference.

Winning big against OM might and I think we can

It would be very impressive if we beat up on the Aggies AND the Lobos this week :D

But yes, it wouldn't hurt to blow out the Aggies. Wouldn't hurt, but probably won't mean much given how bad they are. I think it's more important that guys who need it get rest and our 2nd and 3rd teamers get reps.

Yeah I'm with you on this one. Doing what we are supposed to do against the Sand Aggies and UTSA isn't gonna get us any extra credit. Not blowing them out will hurt us.

We need to get a 62-3 type score against State in their house.

We need to get a 49-21 type score against Ole Miss.

We need to beat LSU by 10 or more.

We still won't make it into the playoff though. Louisville and Ohio State will get preference over us. The media doesn't like Aggy. They never have. Both of their losses were very close games. We lost by 19, to the best team in the league, but still by 19.

If you think it matters to playoff selection, we'll have opportunities to impress the committee in games down the stretch. They aren't going to weight this game much differently whether we win by 20 or 80.

Fixed the UTSA. What did I mess up with the other one?

It benefits us to be efficient. Scoring on too many 1-play drives will tire out the defense, resulting in more points and yards for NMSU than they should have.

THEY...ARE...BAD.

New Mexico State scores 25.9 ppg (86th) and allows 41.6 ppg (3rd worst).

Instead of doing the usual analysis, let's look at it another way:

vs. UTEP (scored 28 in regulation vs. UTSA), Kentucky, and Idaho, they gave up that team's season high in points scored.

vs. UTEP, Troy, and Idaho (FBS only), they were held to that team's season low in points allowed.

Prairie View is a better offense and defense than this team and we shut them out 67-0.

I am going to be far more interested in seeing the reserves in action than anything else. NMSU is the toughest place in America to attract any talent to.

No need to run up the score. Just get the work in and get out.
