So he's just going to be copying the defense we will be running then? Interesting that so many are criticizing Chavis if that's truly the case

I'll be nice and give you the short answer

Steele runs a 3-4 (ex: Alabama)

LSU does not have the personnel for that right now so will be staying in a 4-3 until he gets 3-4 type personnel

But since Chavis coined the 4-3 in all of football, yes he will be copying Chavis' defense!!!1

There's a lot more to a defense than just the base personnel package, I'm sure you know that though. You said they would be running the same defense, not me. I was assuming Steele's 4-3 varied a little bit from Chavis'

No..showing them what not to do while playing defense and using the A&M/Alabama game last season as a reference

To be fair, he has to change Chavis's defense if he is going to give up 70 points like he has done before

well a 4-3 is the same defense. Idk the nuances of Steele's defenses when in a 4-3.

but...

Agree. Steele just might give up 70 points - in the first 5 or 6 games.....
Meanwhile, I know he won't be copying Chavis' famous "Last-two-minutes-of-each-half Double Secret Prevent Defense."

I originally assumed it would differ, thus my original comment about watching tape. You then said he wouldn't be changing the defense, you know more about LSU than I do so I made the second comment. Stop being dense on purpose

you said "teach them the new defense". It's not a new defense. It's still a 4-3.

I'm just taking what you're saying literally. Should I not?

"the new defense" implies that they will be running a new defense. It's not a new defense, it's the same scheming with a different approach.

Had i known I had to spell it out for you I'd have done it in my original reply. Mental note taken.
