I honestly see Armani Watts moving back to CB and Victor Davis back to safety

I know they wanted Armani to play CB and only moved him to FS because we had a need, but dude is a really good FS. I just don't see how you move him after the freshman season he's had and what he's shown.

Also, no way James Lockhart starts off the bat. Myles didn't even start until almost halfway through the season.

I'm getting a little tired of the doom and gloom from the fans because we just missed one one coach muschamp, one won't leave narduzzi, and then one we don't want in venables. That's 3 coaches, when all we need is a top 30-40 defense to win the west and that's with spav sucking at calling the offense. Settle down and let's just see what happens, Sumlin realizes the implications of this hire and I trust him to make the right call. If not he's putting his own job in jeopardy

And why wouldn't he want Venables?

Nobody knows if Sumlin wants him or not. Some people are just throwing shite against the wall and hoping it sticks.

Good question. I'd take him after foster. Also true it's an assumption based on mods, who really knows. Even if we don't get him if we do try my point is it's not the end of the world

Did anyone see that Solari applied for the recruiting coordinator position

Chizik

I actually would outright like this hire. A lot. He was the horns DC the year Vince won the title. And he has a national title ring. Seems like a win for recruiting.

Oooo and a win for the rant. I mean Chiz is like a more successful coach boom. At least that is how I would bait it.....

Everyone on TA think its Durkin and Mattison as CO DCs.

Apparently that's what Liucci thinks.

I don't know/care at this point. Not even Foster is a guaranteed defense so we really won't know until next year or when we see a push in recruiting.

But he didn't go as far as saying that. That's how everyone is taking his update though.

He talked circles around something vague (par for course). Everyone else filled in the blank with "co-DCs". What he said was a paragraph of cheesy shite about an "innovative solution" involving more than one person.

I'd rather just not hire a DC and say frick it. Let Summy coordinate the D

My favorite comment was, "he's just like Ketch, just not as fat...yet"

He's seriously better than Ketch. I don't really like the guy, but c'mon y'all

Isn't there a limit on staff positions though? Wouldn't we have to rob Peter (someone shares WR and QB duties) to pay Paul?

It's starting to become questionable.

Tarp on 247 also thinks it's a combo deal with Durkin and Mattison. Apparently, Durkin was the one who pitched the idea to Sumlin. Hagen would be the one to go, which is problematic because of Malik.

I'm good with it but hope we don't lose Malik because of it. Either way I trust Sumlin at this point and hope it leads to some great improvements for next year
