He has a good shot at playing. Finley is horrible. Hope Calzada does well other than our game.

He's closer now to his hometown than Dallas Aggies are to A&M.

Solid pickup for them. Nix isn’t a good QB and they don’t have much else on their roster. Maybe he develops a little more and turns into a serviceable QB for them, but he just wasn’t gonna be a part of our future so good luck to him except when he’s playing us.

Honestly it reminds me of the Mond situation last year, just best for both parties to move on and everybody will be happier. Just like the orange bowl win, will always appreciate Calzada for the #1 Bama win, but he just wasn’t going to be the long term solution for us.

I agree with Calzada moving on being the best for everyone, but we probably would have been title contenders, with a good chance at back to back Top 10 finishes, if Mond came back.

In hindsight, yes, we definitely would’ve won more games had he stayed for a 5th “super senior year” or whatever they’re called, I’m not saying otherwise. But even with the Orange Bowl win, most of the fanbase (myself included) was ready for Mond to try his hand at the NFL and move on at the end of last season and I’m saying the feeling is the similar as we finish this season with calzada. Just a mutual parting of ways where hopefully both sides are better off for it instead of continuing on.

Nix is gone. He transferred to Oregon.

Honestly for a guy who was totally ineffective at times for us, I would rather not have to play against him. His toughness and coming up clutch later in the season is enough to make me just a little concerned. I mean he is still the guy who somehow went from not being able to complete a pass in a half to beating Bama in like 4 weeks.

He left for a good reason.

Look at the QB roster now. There's no way he keeps the starting job.

Both Calzada and A&M are better off, and I hope he does great at Auburn.

Dallas is a 3 and a half hour drive from College Station.

Buford is a 2 hour and 25 minute drive from Auburn.

Starting job? He'd be #4. The only QB that he could beat out is Bost.

If he can ever put things together he is going to crush w/that cannon of an arm he's packing. Some of the off balance throws he made off his back foot were incredible.

Definitely creates a better atmosphere now for the spring. Unlike during the Mond years there doesn’t have to be a “loyalty” aspect figured into the equation. King with his 1 game and coming off an injury is equal (or should be) to anyone in camp. May the best man win.

Apparently Calzada is running in last place in the 3-man race for starting QB on the plains

8-4 last year looks better every day. We had a guy playing QB who is SIGNIFICANTLY worse than TJ Finley, who himself is barely a P5 quality starter.

Still looks like a massive wasted opportunity by Jimbo

That’s what I struggle with so much over last year’s season. The west was pretty mediocre and there for the taking.

But even though I complain about jimbo’s outdated offense and schemes sometimes, how much could we really expect out of the second string qb that is apparently going to be 2nd or 3rd string at auburn who has a pretty crappy QB situation? Kings’s injury was unfortunate but nothing you can control.
