it would. But it's a one-time thing. It's not going to be nationally that important the 2nd time it happens. The problem is that no one gaf about the Texas Bowl. So while it makes the Texas bowl more important - let's say 2.0 rating to 3.0, a 50% improvement - it's still a shitty bowl.

It's like designing the most amazing commercial ever and instead of waiting to unveil it at the Super Bowl, you first air in during a Tennessee - Buffalo mid-season game. It isn't novel any more when the Super Bowl rolls around so no one talks about it because they were focused on new commercials. You didn't get anywhere near the bang for your buck.

Hold your water til it's a nationally relevant game.

On one hand, this all makes sense to me.

On the other hand, Chip Brown basically called us pussies which EVERY sip fan I see here is having fun aping back to me.

I have been on the record that I never want to play Texas again, but I am close to making an exception. We beat Charlie in that bowl badly and we will basically end his Texas career right here right now.

Why would we want to do that?

Hmm...good point....

You got me, I don't know why. If I think about it, I would much rather see the end of Stoop's OU career, or Briles Baylor career.

I want to play Texas. I want the scoreboard back. Screw all y'all.

Also, Texas' is 84th in offensive FEI. 84th. Look at how that compares with the rest of the teams we've played:

LINK

The Bama and Miss teams are top 20. So is USCe. Arky is 29th. Rice is 57th. Rice. The performance outlier is Missouri, but they're still 10 places higher than Texas, and we had a ton of injuries that game.

I do think with a month to prepare and recover we could beat them pretty soundly. I agree that having the first game back in a mediocre bowl with a fixed pay out seems dumb though

I don't think a bowl game this December will somehow sap the lucre from whenever the series resumes in 2019 or whenever. And even if it did, I'm a CFB fan, not an accountant for the AD. I just know what I want to watch.

I agree with tmc....I'd rather we have a challenging bowl opponent rather than some lame duck mid level pretender--whoever it may be.

Texas Bowl (or wherever) against Texas. Like Jackie said today, anytime, anywhere. The whole "who gains what" argument to me is a bit wimpish.

I am glad you posted your feelings and many older Aggies that I have talked to feel that way. To me that is the "Sometimes you eat the bear and sometimes the bear eats you" mentality that is part of A&M's spirit.

It also is the reason I never want an Ag to run the AD ever again. College football is Game of Thrones, and we aren't the Lannisters we are freaking Littlefinger. Until we get like two modern national titles we can't afford to do any move that isn't calculated, the margin for error is so thin. I really feel that Jackie spirit is part of the reason for the 00's, WE don't have the buffer to live like that. And honestly neither did Jackie.

Chaos is a ladder. And we caused some chaos back in 2011 and started climbing.

What I got from this thread is that cardboardboxer, TBirdSpur2010, and betweenthebara have laid out their souls and admitted they are pussies.

Perhaps I misunderstood. But I doubt it.

Same here. Plus, I don't have to work that day, so I can drive down to Florida and back.

finestfirst79, I have an offseason thread about the juction boys I am saving that I hope you are participate in. Maybe then I can finally understand my in-laws. You are like a gateway to the part of the A&M mentality that I can not for the love of me understand as a corn dog with your typical broken Louisiana work ethic.

I want to, I really do. I have been typing it up already.

I look forward to it, sincerely. But no matter what, you're wrong about playing Texas. I get all the "it wouldn't benefit us" stuff, I really do. I just don't care. College football fans in Texas deserve A&M vs. Texas. The end.

This may sound like weak sauce but I want to play whoever we will beat. I want our bowl record to be one step closer to .500. Right now we are 16-19 overall. Also, if we win a bowl this year that will be 4 straight bowl wins in a row which is something our boys have never done.

Thus give me Texas or Minny, preferably the sips b/c frick them I want scoreboard back. IDGAF about making the resumption of the series an event game either.

No more entitled than any other football fan in Texas, and I ain't in Texas and haven't been for 30 years. Weird that I need to chime in on this, actually. Texas (the state) fans deserve this game, as often as possible. You and cardboardboxer are of course welcome to your wrong opinions.

Nope. The old man is right. I don't get why people don't want to play Texas. All I hear is excuses.
