Criticisms like this are more likely valid than treating a nonconference home loss like it's on the same level as Arky St. 2008 in football.

Just saw this. Might want to re-check your math.

2011-2012: 4-14
2012-2013: 7-11
2013-2014: 3-3

14-28. If you're trying to count conference tournament games in that total, the number is 16-30.

So, 3 wins per season?

Consider that from December 21, 2003 - December 22, 2011 A&M hadn't lost a nonconference home game in the regular season (78 straight wins).

If you include all nonconference home games, A&M didn't lose from March 23, 2005 - December 22, 2011 (68 straight wins)

That stretch included wins over LSU, Auburn, Alabama, #21 Washington, Arizona, St. Louis, and a host of other teams FAR more talented than Rice, Southern, and North Texas.

So this is one of those move the goalpost kind of things? Match our best season/stretch ever or the coach is shite.

You're not doing a good job selling anyone on a 4th year for Kennedy.

For perspective, even Tony Barone made the NIT...in his third year.

How about instead of comparing Kennedy to Gillispie and Turgeon (coaches who succeeded), let's compare him to one who failed.

Year 1: Advantage Kennedy

Tony Barone: 6-22 (2-12)
Billy Kennedy: 14-18 (4-14)

Year 2: Advantage Kennedy

Tony Barone: 10-17 (5-9)
Billy Kennedy: 18-15 (7-11)

Year 3: Advantage Barone

Tony Barone: 19-11 (10-4)
Billy Kennedy: 12-7 (3-3) so far

Tony Barone made the NIT in year 3, and then the team steadily got worse over the next 4 years. Both improved by 4 wins overall and 3 conference wins in year 2.

Oh, and just so we're clear, right now, the average attendance right now (5,100 in a 12,500 seat arena) is worse than the final three years of Melvin Watkins (6,100, 6,400, 6,100).

There's been a decrease in attendance of 15% between 2011-2012 and 2012-2013 (7,100 to 6,300) and a decrease in attendance of 19% between 2012-2013 and 2013-2014 (6,300 to 5,100). When you factor in that attendance was in the average of 9,000/game in 2010-2011, the extrapolation is that attendance numbers have dropped 43.3% since Kennedy took over.

Not surprising considering the last coach berated our fans after every game.

Yet Reed averaged between 9,100 - 10,000+ per game with him as coach.

90% of you guys treat basketball results like it's football. It's way harder to make the postseason in basketball and even great teams lose much more compared to football.

1) a program with A&M's resources should be a bubble team just about every year. Missing the NIT should be extremely rare. It just isn't that hard to make the NIT.

2) unlike football, you can turn around a program much faster. SMU was in much worse shape than we were and Larry Brown has them on the NCAA bubble in year 2. Kennedy is going to comfortably miss the NIT - again - in year 3.

Mercifully, tonight's game will not be televised and is only available on ESPN3.

I've been watching on ESPN3. I wish I hadn't. What I have seen 15 minutes in has been pathetic.

I think I will go throw up.

Hyman had better be watching this game.

The Ags are down by 19 in the 1st half to South Carolina---Winless in SEC play South Carolina (0-6).

I've been watching this game, and even the announcers have been calling out our team for our lack of effort.

We can take this thread down when ProjectPat starts his first 'Fire Billy Kennedy' thread.

He's not one to call for a coach's head. He'll just stop posting things that are positive.

However, the point is made and, barring the most epic collapse in the history of Florida basketball, the point stands.

I'm not saying there's anything dishonest about it, I just think there's a reason you sign coaches to multi-year contracts. Athletic departments know that it takes a while for things to work out. If it were up to some fans though, every coach would be on a game to game contract.

So do you think we've given him enough time yet?

Billy Kennedy is incompetent. That's all there is to it.
1) The basketball program was on the decline, but it wasn't in horrible shape when he took over.
2) It doesn't take 3 years to turn around a basketball program (even a shitty one) regardless.
3) We're getting worse, not better. 20 point home loss to North Texas. 28 point loss to South Caroline, the (former) worst team in the worst big conference.

Kennedy agreed to the contract and the included buyout. Time to exercise the latter. If you don't think he has earned a pink slip, you're a longhorn saboteur ;)

Also, I don't think the suffering is through. We might end the season with 5 conference wins. This was a meh (at best) team to start with and now they've mailed it in. Time to give someone else a shot.
