Way too many seem to be rooting against us.

I was rooting against Franchione in 2007 and Sherman in 2011 after the first three blown double digit 2nd half leads.

I'm not rooting against him and will support the team. But if we keep performing at this level, changes need to be made

That's where I am. I have no problem with it but the number of posts quickly after every close win/loss with people clamoring for change is pathetic. It isn't going to happen midseason and moaning isn't going to change the outcome.

Not a Kennedy fan but I can't ever understand the joy some Ags take in watching the Ags suck and jumping all over anyone that tries to find a silver lining.

I'll try to explain my own feelings.

I've seen enough to know that he's a below average coach. We have bad fundamentals. We see players make the same mistakes over and over again without correction. Our in-game adjustments are poor. Our offensive system is a pile of crap. Yes, he's recruiting fairly well, but I feel like there are tons of coaches that could recruit at the same level at A&M. So that isn't enough to justify keeping him on (like it might be with Scott Drew. Dude's a crap coach, but holy hell he cheats/recruits well). Since I've realized that we're always going to underachieve relative to our capabilities as long as he's on the sideline, and he doesn't recruit well enough to offset his dismal coaching, I'd rather see us eat enough bad losses to get him fired. It's better than watching us bumble along in mediocrity while Kennedy does just enough to earn another year, but not enough to improve the team above average. That is, I would rather that we have a bad year this season, can him, and get a new coach than that.

Oh, and this isn't a team with a chance to make some noise down the stretch. We barely beat Rice. We've struggled mightily for long stretches against Prairie View and whatever other crap teams we've played this year. We lost to a Missouri State team that was without its #2 & #4 scorers. This isn't a good team and we know they aren't going to improve that much with Kennedy teaching them. What you see is more or less what you get, and I see a team that'll probably lose to SMU, might lose to Houston, will lose to OU, and then will probably go 7-11 in a horrible conference. So screw it. Bring on the losses and let's get a new coach.

You foresee losses right now, so that's damning enough?

How can you actively root for the Ags to lose? It's one thing to say this coach has been terrible we need to get rid of him, but to root for that outcome? Wow....

I'm not rooting for losses as much as I'm grimly accepting them. (Also, it doesn't much matter. We've seen the same crap coaching this year that we did the first 2 he was on campus. This team is going to lose a lot whether I want it or not)

But back on topic. If 22 wins gets us into the NIT + earns Kennedy another year and 21 wins means we stay home + can him, yes, I'd rather win 21 than 22. I feel this way because while the NIT berth would be nice, it would simultaneously kill our chances at excelling next year. In other words, I'd rather do slightly worse this year + have a shot at a good season this year than be mediocre both this year and next year.

I don't think that's a particularly "out there" view. If Sherman had beaten Texas in 2011, we probably wouldn't have fired him. No Sumlin, Showers probably starts and we go 7-5 last year (which would have earned him another season because "the SEC is so hard!!"), no Heisman. No, sometimes it's best to take the licks we need to take so that we can move on to better things. That's where we are with Kennedy. Many of the problems he has aren't regular rebuilding problems. They're of the "he's a bad coach" variety.

Agree with all of that.

They actually played better than I thought. I figured we'd get down double digits early and SMU would end up winning by 10-15.
