A thread on gigem247 says Alaka is done for the year with a shoulder injury: Labrum tear. Posters on there say he is done for the season, and won't be back for any bowl game, regardless of date. He might not even be ready for Spring ball next year. He's not eligible for a medical redshirt.

Supposedly Riley Garner has been getting more reps.

If all this is true, it really sucks for us and especially Alaka.

I read he had surgery but I didn't think it was anything serious.

BL did a class snapshot post and also alluded that his injury could be serious enough to warrant taking an extra LB this year but said "he's not done", whatever that means. I think that was on Sunday when Reynolds committed or maybe Monday.

We are fricking cursed at LB is all I know and it sucks.

What happened to Jake from State Farm? He played 2/3 of the game against AZ State and disappeared.

It's hard to believe that from the entire state of Texas we can't field two badass inside linebackers.

Glass.

This sucks.

We used to have LBs (80s & 90s) out the wazoo but now we can't get one. single. decent. LB!

Last great LB besides Von?

I'd say Porter as a senior in 12 was pretty good, he did get drafted. Michael Hodges in the last years of the big 12 was a tackling machine, I think he racked up like 19 or 20 in the 9-6 Nebraska game alone. But unless I'm missing somebody we haven't had any great in the last 5-10 years...

Von wasn't linebacker in reality. You'd have to go back farther. I'll tell you this, I can't remember - which says a lot

We had quarterbacks back then that were better linebackers than the last 10 years
