Wilson isn't going anywhere and both corners will return (with guys behind them pushing them hopefully). We will see on Watts. He's incredible but safety isn't a spot like DE or LT where a bunch of guys are going early in the draft. Even if Watts is gone, I don't think we will take as a big of a step back as you or others are saying. Folks are talking like we will win 4 or 5 games. I don't think 8-4 is that crazy for next year

Need a QB solution. Other than that, we are fine at pretty much every position.

I think the staff plans to roll with Hubenak, Starkel, Blumrick & Mond, and let the best man separate himself from that group.

I bet we end up leaning alot on our running game, which could be pretty good next year, too. If Mond can run the zone read well, our offense might just look very similar to this year's.

Remember, Mazzone wasn't afraid to start Rosen as a Freshman, maybe he thinks Mond has it in him, too. Or Starkel has impressed him enough that he just isn't that concerned about the lack of returning experience as a group.

Hell, even Saban is starting a Freshman. It can work, you know.

Looch just posted this about Tyree Owens

quote:

He did not meet with Sumlin at the conclusion of the visit and therefore did not commit to the head coach. He's not committed to the Ags at this time because, if national signing day were today, he wouldn't be a member of A&Ms class. If and when that changes, we'll let you know.

His comment was that Owens intends to enroll mid-term and that we're tight on spots. He said we need an opening specifically for Hines and tone other LB. That if things went well with those two, we might not have room for Owens or Devodrrick.

Two top prospects will be announcing their decisions tomorrow. One a 4* football prospect ( Jacob Phillips) & the other a 4* basketball prospect ( Brandon Rachal)

Would be stunned if we went 0-2 tomorrow. I suspect a big day

The walk-ons like Gillaspia and Tripucka who Sumlin gave scholarships, is that a one year award or more? Not that my opinion matters, but I'm fine with it since they contribute, but just curious from an accounting perspective.

Tripucka is a RS Junior this year so his scholly will be this year and next. Gillaspia is a RS Sophomore so he has 3 years on scholly.

Yeah Phillips chose ou. Not official yet but that's the word

Losing a linebacker recruit to the big 12 and ou makes me sick. They already stole creed from us. Wtf does sumlin do in his spare time? Obviously not keep in touch with major targets like other dominant recruiting HCs

Or maybe this was a longshot prospect that came in and had a great visit that some people thought swung him

Is Phillips an inside or outside linebacker?

The reason I ask is because the starting three have all but been decided for next season:

Alaka (JR) at Sam
Dotson (SO) at Mike
Moore (JR) at Will

Barring a Derrick Thomas-like season from any of those three, they will all be starters in 2018 as well.

I guess he was a long shot prospect but with all the elite defensive recruits in Texas and we're going to end up with 1 maybe 2? That's not okay if you can't poach kids like Phillips from OOS. Gotta land elite talent somewhere. If he's not investing his time in top targets then idk what he's doing

Listed as an ILB

still WAY too early for that. We are probably going to end up with hines and the word is we are trending up with wilson. Who the frick knows how this class ends up. It's only October and so much shite goes down in December and January. What if we win out? We will probably be in a much better spot with players like okudah and browning if that happens. Flipping out over a player like phillips is dumb when we were never considered to be in the driver's seat until literally 48 hours ago and the fact that we were at all shows how much sumlin is putting into recruiting players like him

Lol Wilson is a long shot. EJ goes as far to say we aren't even a player. Browning and Okudah will not attend A&M. Does not matter if we win out and grab the NC. Also we've been on this kid for awhile. Chavis has been in contact with him for well over half a year and he's choosing OU bc of the relationship he has with Stoops? Dec and Jan won't matter if we are working to FLIP kids. That is hard to do. Running out of potential blue chip commits awfully fast
