For instance, I have no idea what Manziel's HS comp pct was. But his mechanics in HS were chaotic at best. But he was able to fix that at A&M (with internal and external help) and he turned into an extremely accurate passer
Manziel benefitted from scheme in HS too. He was 60% his Junior year and almost 66% his Senior year, with bad mechanics and all.

If Johnny benefited so much from our scheme, why is it that no other A&M QB since, in significant playing time, has equalled his worst season completion percentage? Up until this year, we were playing the same scheme, with the same OC, that Johnny had in his highest completion percentage year.
Why is it that no Texas Tech starting QB (running Kingsbury's scheme, just like Johnny did) has equalled Johnny's worst season completion percentage? Not Davis Webb, not Baker Mayfield, not Pat Mahomes.
I guess that means that instead of scheme, Johnny was "accurate" because Mike Evans was the real star, eh?
But if that's the case, why did Johnny's completion percentage go UP when he started spreading the ball around more his soph year? Evans had 82 catches in 2012. Ryan Swope was the only receiver with more than 30. Contrast to 2013, where Evans nabbed just 69 balls, and three other receivers, including all-world talent Travis Labhart, had at least 51 receptions.
In fact, let's assume that in 2013, all 69 of Evans' receptions came at the end of Manziel passes. And let's assume that Evans caught every ball for which he was the target. That would give us the maximum possible positive contribution by Evans to Manziel's completion percentage. Take all that out, and Manziel is still 231/360 to all other receivers. That's a 64% completion rate.
So no, Johnny doesn't just owe his success to Mike Evans, either.
So unless Derel Walker, Malcolm Kennedy, and Travis Labhart were actually All-Conference level receivers and we didn't know it, maybe Johnny really was an accurate passer.

guys at this point, it's probably best to take this to another thread.
I apologize because clearly this stemmed from my comment but I really did pick Johnny Manziel as my example because I didn't think it would be controversial. It is and opinions differ but it really doesn't have much to do with Mond or recruiting so I'd ask that if y'all want to discuss further that it be done in a new thread. Again, sorry about that

It was an excellent thread, sorry it got hijacked.
Scheme is important for recruiting. KK utilized three rotations at WR like line changes in hockey.
The kids hated not getting the ball and started to transfer.
Moorehead also claimed the WR rotation was the reason A&M couldn't attract more elite talent.
The staff has limited the quantity of WRs and we have seen the quality of WR recruit (not athletes-RSJ, Speedy, Kirk, and Merritt) slowly improve.
Next year should be the first year we will see if this pays off. We should see more "true " WRs with Q. Davis, Chriss, Rogers, and possibly Ausbon, Hez Jones, and Buckley.

Sips believe it is OSU. A&M fans believe it is between A&M and LSU. I think it is particularly tough recruiting any kid that is looking at both the Sips and LSU. The negative recruiting would be tough to overcome.
I would hire Brick Haley as member of the non coaching staff, if I was Sumlin, to try and steal this kid.
Positives are that...
A&M is the local team
-We haven't fired any staff
-We are in the SEC
-Basketball commit, Flagg, is his cousin
-We have been led to believe that Ausbon and Hines are good friends
Negatives
- His buddy, Walker Little, seems to be a real influence in his recruiting process. He seems like a big Sip lean. Little had him visit both Ole Miss and FSU together. They have both taken unofficial trip(s) to see the Sips and A&M (A&M vs. UT game).

I thought Little was a heavy Stanford lean. That's what the tu guys say.

There's an Aggie family at Episcopal that has done good work in getting basically the whole team to any game they want to attend. Also his parents prefer him to be close to home. They also liked Charlie Strong and didn't like how that was handled so supposedly they are out. Too much time left for me to believe though
But it seems he really enjoyed the OSU trip. The good thing is he isn't an early enrollee so it will have worn off by the time he signs. Our best shot is to get him in on the 20th after the EEs have enrolled so he can hang out with guys in this class that he knows (for instance, Ausbon attended Episcopal for a year).
But in the end, I wouldn't get particularly optimistic on that front
Little grew up a sip. And while he enjoyed his visit to Aggieland and he likes Turner, he politely told us he just wasn't an Ag at heart.

Bellaire is a city. Houston is a city. Bellaire HS is even part of HISD. But Houston Bellaire is a new one to me

Skilled labor: St. Thomas must replace a few offensive linemen, but the Eagles are loaded at the skill positions. Senior quarterback Michael Keating takes the controls of an potentially explosive offense that features seniors Mark Davis, William Heck and Rowdy Hinckley at running back and seniors Landon Malouf and Drew Guidroz and junior Jhamon Ausbon, an Episcopal transfer, at wide receiver.

Perhaps trying to account for the fact that EHS is in Bellaire but none of the kids who go there are actually from Bellaire

A&M just landed a big ole boy in the 2018 class. A 340lbs. Junior DT!!!
If I were the coaches I'd take as many early 2018 and 2019 kids as possible before Herman gets his legs under him and BU and UH hire a coach. Let the kids recruit each other.

4 star or 5 star, he's still the same project with huge upside. I'd recommend just enjoying the good pub and the on-paper improvement to our recruiting class.

And he doesn't give off the vibe of a guy whose approach or work ethic will be affected because he's a 5 star
