It's most definitely a bad thing because aggy.

(Clarification: it's not really anything, but aggy will still get riled up over nothing)

He issued a statement. Some people will freak out but I appreciate his honesty.

That guy will be plenty of drama until signing day. I would recruit another QB. We need at least one in next year's class and can't afford to be shutout for that position. We were lucky to land Starkel so late in the game this year. If you're still visiting, then we're still recruiting players for the spot, I say.

It's essentially a de-commit and exactly why no one should be obsessing over the whims of 16-18 year olds. We'll be fine. Don't want them here if they don't really want to be here. That was said about Kyler during his UT trip and there were some negative reaction to invoking that phrase, but it's true time and time again.

He's letting us down easy, he sees the writing on the wall with Sumlin and knows we are more likely than not to have a new coach by signing day.

It's normally not a big deal, but when literally every elite QB a program touches looks for a lifeboat it's time to pay attention.

Agree with that, it's the biggest blemish on Sumlin imo. It's a BAD look to have that happen at THE position. If this season goes poorly, I don't think he can recover from it.

I wouldn't go that far, normally a decommit means that something soured and the recruit is for sure going elsewhere unless something major changes (like we hire John Chavis). To me the statement reads more like if we would have lived in a world where he never committed.

The truth is I can't blame his reasoning, he earned getting courted through his hard work and I appreciate his honesty about wanting to open the process FAR in advance so we can look at other options ourselves. This is much much different than Kyler, who almost flipped last minute and put a metaphorical gun to Sumlin's head. This is the right way to do it, unlike what Kyler did.

I think Martell's still going to end up with y'all, and he'll be a solid player, but IMO he definitely has a little bit of a diva vibe.

Lots of recruits decommit every year, but other schools don't seem to have the problem of consistently being held hostage by recruits and then ending up screwed because they promised not to recruit others at the position.

It shows a lack of recruiting ability to always fall back to that promise as your go to move.

Let it ride guys. We got a QB in the pipeline with Starkel. If the guys don't work out and Tate decommits, we just go get another recruit and another Transfer.

Ole Miss, Bama, Auburn, LSU, Arky, and UGA have all either had prominent transfers starting recently and/or have current transfers competing for the starting job.

It is a sign of the times. We were just stupid enough to let it impact is in recruiting by not countering the negative PR. Isn't OU's current QB a transfer. Didn't they just lose 2 QBs in Trevor Knight and Cody Thomas...

Just let the Martel Diva work it's way out, one way or another.

So Turner got a commitment last week from OT Carson Green. I initially thought he looked a bit light to play there at 6'6", 270. But apparently, the kid is still only 16 years old, turning 17 in May.

His frame is likely still growing at that age, so I'm not much concerned about his size anymore. It will be interesting to see his height and weight after the upcoming season.

Alabama decommits this year

Cam Akers 5-star RB
Jake Fromm 4-star QB
Dare Rosenthal 4-star OT (201*)

Terrance Ferguson 5-star Basketball prospect

I wouldn't call the Bama staff bad recruiters....

Offer went out to 4* Cali QB Jack Sears.

Higher LA Nike+ TheOpening rating than Martell

I've wished for a while Tate would just decommit. He embodies everything that annoys me about the QB position. Just be quiet or go away.
