Yeah, I was gonna say, Diecsh is an elite tackle and there are a lot of folks who are very high on him. But facts and alll

Chavis doesn't recruit, you can tell by Dodsons comments

quote:

"It excites me to just sit down with a coach like that," Dodson said. "To just know that a man like that is going to coach me ... it's going to be an amazing experience."

Winning over the kid is only half the battle. One of the most important jobs a coach has is cultivating a relationship with a recruit's family, particularly momma ... and in some cases, grandmomma, too. "My mom loves Coach Chavis and just how up-front he is about everything," Dodson said. "He's always been completely honest with me and my family. My grandma was more impressed with him as a man than as a football coach, as well."

Ronald jones may have been the biggest miss in last years class outside Malik. He's been incredible this year.

I wonder if it was bad evals, or lack of reciprocated interest...

A&M already had the early commitments of both Bradford and Rodney Anderson (OU).

I don't think in my lifetime Stanford has ever had a higher rated recruiting class than USC. Yet Stanford seems to do pretty well in the Pac12, either under Harbaugh or Shaw. So what to make of that besides coaching really matters?

Just something to keep in mind as the recruiting season reaches a climax. All the highest quality ingredients around won't add up to a good meal if the chef doesn't know what to do with them.

I think we will be better on defense next year. If Chief can find another LB to go with Moore and Alaka, that will help. Maybe that is a freshman LB or one on the roster.

But the whole just seems to add up to less than the sum of the parts on offense. Star ratings there, of Diesch or whoever, don't matter if we don't know what we're doing. This is my concern. Not how he is ranked versus Little or Hudson.

This is the senior highlight film of OT prospect Ryan McCollum. He is a lean looking 6'6" 270, almost like a TE. He can definitely add some weight to his frame.
LINK

It shows him driving fools off the line of scrimmage, often into the ground, even away from the play. They are all run plays, but since Tech, Okie St. & Tulsa offered him, his pass blocking ability must also be evident. Since Air Force & Northwestern also offered him, he must be pretty sharp.

Just posting this since he was referenced earlier in the thread. Like a lot of OL recruits, he just doesn't look big enough yet to play that position at the college level. But I can see why schools like him as a prospect who could grow into that role.

RB Trayveon Williams announced he will be enrolling early at A&M. So he will get to go through Spring practice.

Here is a new senior year highlight reel of him.

Good speed and can really cut to quickly change direction.

McCollum looks slow as a snail, I imagine he gets even slower when he adds weight. Hard to get excited for him, seems like a filler offer. Would be shocked if he became an SEC caliber OT.

Has the Sewo ship sailed? He is a talented athlete (RB, LB, and S). He committed to TCU as a RB, but they are likely losing their OC to tu.

He is an early signee and has a sibling at A&M.

If you care to take a look you will notice an OT prospect with length, who plays with decent pad level, finishes block, and has good drive.

We don't run the power sweep very often (if at all), so I'm not sure speed in an OL recruit in say, a pulling guard role, is a priority for our staff.
