Interesting stat: there have only been 21 complete games thrown in the Majors this year.

Astros signed a Cuban star, Yulieski Gourriel, the other day. In 2015 he batted .500 At 32, he's at the tail end of his prime and entered the twilight, but it is always nice to have a options. His career OPS is right below 1.000. It took a dip when he played in Japan. I would assume the competition is tougher there than in Cuba. It'll nice to have another bat in the stretch run. If Bregman can come up too the Astros would be in a strong position to continue to win. With the Rangers playing the way they are, it isn't going to take much to close the 4.5 game gap. I bet they'll turn it around and we will have a real race to the finish. Either team could be in the market for a starting pitcher, but the market is shite right now.

Tyler Naquin went 3-for-4 with two homers, a double, and six RBI

O's have lost 3 in a row in damm yankee stadium. The heart of the lineup and Manager Buck Showalter all missed last night's game with the flu.

The all star game must have been ground zero for that. Both Corey seager and Yasmani grandal missed today's game with the flu as well

O's lost their lead over Boston.
Ranger's lead is now down to 3.5. It was 11 games a month ago.

You could tell that was going to happen. The Rangers were playing over their heads

For sure. The advanced metrics showed it. Even the run differential shows it.

O's with a 2-run walkoff dinger to sweep the Indians in a big series. O's maintain best home record in MLB.

Their run differential at the end of June was like +55 and now it's just above 0. Pretty insane, I expected them to slow down but I didn't see them crashing this hard.

Bregman getting called up for tomorrow

i forget what their BaseRuns projection was but it was pointing to a team playing waaaay over its head. they were relying on sequencing more than anything. but yea, it is kinda crazy that theyve crashed this hard

The O's are 37-14 at home. It's the John Francis "Boog" Powell effect.

Hopefully the Rangers are pulling out of their funk. Pulled out a come from behind last night.

It's been one hell of a roller coaster watching the Rangers highs and lows leading up to the ASG. Would be nice to go on a little run out of the gate to put a few games between us and the 'Stros

Very true. Will be a good rest of the year. We knew we would have down stretches. I just hope we have come through the worst of it.
