Here are the last 2 pitches of Hinsley's AB

LINK

Thhe 2nd pitch was a bit closer and 3-4 inches lower. The ump had a really big strike zone on low pitches and the call shouldn't be surprising. Was it a bad call? Sure looks like it. But you can't put the game in the hands of blue when he's been inconsistent all night

Yeah that was a very frustrating strike 3 call, but like you said, that's tough to watch with 2 strikes. Still, you would like to see the ump be consistent with his zone.

And gracious CC, I don't think you've had an avi I didn't like

LSU has passed A&M in RPI, conference record, wins vs top 50, and tied overall record.

We're still in a great position to get a national seed, but damn I want this series.

I'll settle for just winning 1 of 3. Our chance for 2 of 3 was lost last night.

winning 1 of 3 would be a push RPI wise due to the home/road split. And both schools are going to see a nice bump just by playing each other. Both school's SOS jumped 10+ spots just off the first game. Think we'll both be in the 40s Sunday (LSU is 59 and A&M is 62 as of now)

Unfortunately, winning only 1 of 3 would probably kill our chances of winning the SEC.

Actually I just calculated it and we'd move up to .5532 SOS which right now would put us at 23. That's an absolutely absurd jump

LSU will jump to .5556 which is 22 right now

ETA: for the record this isn't actually spot on as they do some calculation for home/road and I just ignored that. I think we'll get a bigger bump in SOS than LSU for this reason

I'm not all that worried about the SEC Championship. Don't get me wrong, hardware is nice, but we need the national seed and we need to play well in a big super regional type environment. The bigger prize is Omaha.

Lange is controlling that curve well. That 0-2 pitch to Birk was filthy. Great location

His fastball I'm a lot less impressed with

Yes it was.
Maybe we should just not load the bases?

ugh, that defense. Banks is too smooth to keep making errors. But he's had an awful lot of them this year

really like LSU's approach at the plate. Very good putting the ball in play and going the other way

The one thing I do like about McDonald's commentary is the way he pronounces "TOO-lane". But that's about it.
