the more this feels like 2012...

...and 2010...

...and 2008

Good gooley-mooley we've been here a lot, lately. I'm hoping that Currie doesn't channel his inner Hart or Hamilton and screw this thing up. I don't want to be here 5 years from now, doing this again.

Posted in another thread, but I will dig into this further

quote:

Because, AND I COULD BE WRONG ABOUT THIS, NEED A TENNESSEE LAWYER TO CONFIRM, we're a state university, the job has to be posted for a minimum of 14 days before we can announce a hire, unless there are exceptional circumstances, like in 2010. But in that situation, the job was vacant because Kiffin quit, not because we fired him. We may also be required to interview at least 1 minority candidate.

If that's the case, the earliest we could announce the new coach is the day after the Vanderbilt game.

Again, I could be wrong, but that would be a legitimate reason.

A poster on VQ said this earlier this afternoon:

I have a friend in the ad I asked about posting the head football coaching position for so long before hiring someone and they said that the University can file for an exemption to hire a Chancellor or head football coach and that is what they have done. TIFWIW. It kind of killed the waiting to hire someone because of this rule.

Extraordinary circumstances (2 weeks before signing day) got us an exemption, plus, as I said, Kiffin quit, wasn't fired.
