Fortenberry said Emmons has "major" grade concerns. Even though he's committed to UGA, they've stopped recruiting him.

Jarrett Guarantano

Oradell (N.J.) Bergen Catholic

Recruiting wrap: Guarantano has been close to committing a few times but it looks like his recruitment will end in mid-April. Ohio State was the leader early on but the Buckeyes have fallen off the pace over the past month or so. Urban Meyer will get his chance to impress when the Rivals100 quarterback returns to Columbus in early April. Tennessee made a very good impression on Guarantano when he was in Knoxville earlier this week but Rutgers, the hometown team, is still very much in the mix.

Likely destination: Tennessee

Analyst breakdown: Guarantano's teammates didn't do him any favors last season but he still played like a Rivals100 prospect. His arm strength, vision and playmaking ability while on the run gives his team a chance to score on virtually every play. When Guarantano is able to set his feet and read the defense, he has very little trouble finding the open receiver.

The New Balance Nationals Indoor Track Championships are the pinnacle of the indoor track season. This weekend Holloway became the national champion at the 60m hurdles, tying the national record with a time of 7.53 in the process.

Holloway placed second in the high jump with a leap of 6 feet, 11.5 inches.

Chidi Okonya told Chad Simmons in scout interview that he liked his visit a lot and loved our facilities and academics program. Named us in his top 4 with Ole Miss, Duke, and UGA. Simmons said that he had heard we made a big move with his visit. He says he is planning on deciding sometime towards the end of spring to summer.

Allen Trieu, scout national recruiting analyst, said that he spoke with "someone in the know" and Vols are "a serious player," for Donnie Corley, more so than is being mentioned.

Tony Gray 2017

"Tennessee is on top with Georgia (offered last week) now," said Gray. "I had a good talk with the coaches on my visit and I like Tennessee right now.

"I was just at Tennessee the week before, then I got the offer, and it was exciting," said Gray. "Tennessee being first to offer me means a lot to me. It showed me that they were looking at me early and you can say that is does help them some with me."

I love Tennessee and everything they do. I've got a great relationship with Coach [Butch] Jones, Coach [Zach] Azzanni, and Coach [Larry] Knight.

Sounds like OSU's depth chart is hurting them. Regardless, his upcoming visit with them is interesting. Hope the good guys can pull it out

I doubt Hardman would care if they signed him. Most of these kids think they are the best in the nation.

Ryan Callahan on Bryce Matthews, OT & teammate of Ryan Johnson.

I think Tennessee is definitely a legitimate contender, and Ole Miss and Texas A&M are pretty high on his list, too. Beyond that, it's hard to say. I certainly wouldn't say he's leaning toward any one particular school right now, but I think the Vols, Rebels and Aggies probably will remain three of the main teams to watch throughout his recruitment.

It's worth noting that he likes a handful of things about Tennessee, and one of them is that it's fairly close to home while also not being right in his backyard. He seems to like that UT is far enough away that he still would get to leave home to go to college there, but it's also close enough that he could get home pretty easily any time he wanted to visit his family or any time something came up. And he admitted it's a bit of a factor that Texas A&M is farther from home, although he pointed out that he has family in Texas that could make up for that, to some extent.

It's going to be interesting to see how this one plays out over the next few months.

My concern is with TN taking Henderson because theyre losing confidence in Hardman. I'm jumping to conclusions. Henderson is a head scratcher to me. If TN does miss on Hardman, I was hoping they'd go after Holloway.

Tennessee had a very strong visit with Jarrett Guarantano earlier this week and as he said the Vols are the team to beat heading down the stretch. From talking to multiple sources this week, we feel it's fair to say the Vols have a good deal of momentum at this point.

Now, the Ohio State visit is certainly a factor, but we continue to get this sense that this is more of a visit that's about keeping a promise to visit the Buckeyes before he makes a decision.

From what we've gathered the family likes what Tennessee has to offer and feels like the opportunity the Vols present is a good one.

Now, we're not ready to count it over because anyone that's been around recruiting in the last 10 years or so has seen Urban Meyer work his recruiting magic, but as Guarantano said, Tennessee seems to be the team to beat.

Guarantano has set a decision date for April 15.

This weekend it's expected to be a light slate of visitors, but don't be surprised if the Vols do host a few recruits on Saturday, including North Carolina defensive tackle Christian Colon.

Tennessee had a larger number of visitors in last weekend and some of that credit has to go to the Volunteer Classic 7-on-7. As 7-on-7 events grow in the East Tennessee region, there's talk of another national tournament being held in Pigeon Forge that has already attracted major attention from several top teams in Florida and the Chicago area, it has to be considered a win for Tennessee as numerous prospects use the opportunity to make the short trip to the University of Tennessee.

Look for several Louisiana defensive linemen to be real targets over the next few months as well and we expect Louisiana defensive end Caleb Roddy on campus in the very near future.

With spring break ongoing at high schools around the country several prospects continue to go in and out of the Anderson Training Center as they stop in to see Tennessee.

Earlier this week it was Georgia linebacker Tyrone Hopper and on Thursday it was offensive line commitment Ryan Johnson and 2017 four-star quarterback Hunter Johnson.

Johnson has now visited Tennessee several times over the course of the last year and the Vols were one of the earliest programs to offer the young but extremely talented signal caller.

Expected to be on of the top quarterbacks in his class, already a top-100 prospect, Johnson is someone Butch Jones and former offensive coordinator Mike Bajakian prioritized early last year after Johnson's freshman season.

Tennessee already has a lot of competition, with Notre Dame offering earlier this week and a lot more offers to come, but Johnson seems to find a way to make it back to Knoxville every several months. While it's early, Tennessee has positioned itself well for Johnson.
