Are the Vols ever going to be good again?

I'm so tired of sucking. A 100 million dollar program should spend whatever it takes to succeed.

Fully expect to die before VOLS win another natty

I'm with you. My son loves them and he has no clue what they use to be.

I'd like to consider myself young, but this AD isn't getting fixed anytime soon, and I honestly do not know how long football will be around for. If it's only 30-40 more years, we might have witnessed the last VOLS natty already

VOLS are synonymous with mediocrity as long as big Jim is selling the shite out of coffee and fleecing fuel customers.
What scares the shite out of me is that we have seen rock bottom with Dooley and the answer was Lyle Allen Jones. I can't imagine what is next.
All that said, I will always support this program like a fricking mindless sheep.

Me too. The only thing I cling on to is players like Barnett and Jennings.

If low-tier Clemson program could do it, yes we absolutely can.

Under 20 y/o VOLS fans roll me up so hard irl. I have a cousin that's like 18 and we were talking VOLS at a Christmas gathering and this mother fricker WASNT EVEN PISSED about how this annum transpired. He was all like "I mean, we had a good year. We're way better than when Dooley was around."
Then I quickly change the subject because I feel my jimmies intensifying, start talking about the upcoming bowls..we get around to the national title and this stupid bastard proclaims he will be rooting for Alabama because "it's good for the SEC and I don't really hate them that much. They always beat us."
User David Ricky was then internally SEETHING. I could've bludgeoned this kid with the fricking bench we were sitting on.
Moral of the story is I remember when VOLS were elite. Like, nationally elite. Fans of other teams legit dreaded seeing Tennessee pop up on the schedule before the season. We beat the brakes off everyone, Alabama included and god damn it, we will have that day again.

Big Bob Goulet with his thumb on the program per usual.
Sobering but correct.

Shockingly when the owner of the Browns tries to control your program it sucks. Something, something... correlation vs. causation...

That could be in five years if things align in our favor.
Back in the '90's you just figured the team would figure out a way to win and they usually did.
We have awesome facilities, should have plenty of money and we do have an elite history. We need a new radio team. Bob Kesling is SOOOOOO average.

My god. You should have strangled him with the Camo Browning t shirt he was wearing.
It is hard to talk VOLS with other fans sometimes. I went to the Mizzou game with a big group (mostly friends except a couple randos) and got NASCAR drunk on brown party liquor. After watching Crockett run thru the defense like a dose of salt thru a widow woman, I was livid and "pulling" for Mizzou and yelling obscenities at Butch Jones.
I rolled a couple of them up and they were saying just loud enough "I cant believe he is cheering for them", "It doesn't make sense to cheer for a coach to get fired", etc. I just don't understand how anyone can back Butch Jones at this point. He has done some good things, but nothing points to a bright future.
Casual fan mentality imo.

: : Anyone know what the phrase "like a dose of salt through a widowed woman" means?
: A dose of salts means a laxative. Probably an woman old enough to be widowed would be especially "moved" by salts.
This could be a variation on the phrase "go through her like a packet of salts" which was invented by Barry Humphries in his comic strips "The adventures of Barry Mackenzie" which appeared in "Private Eye" in the 1970s. It was a vulgarism for "to have vigorous and quick sexual intercourse". I don't think that it ever achieved common usage."

I always assumed it meant that the salt was going thru in the way of tears, since a widow would be crying and tears are salty.

Really.
I just assumed it had some sexual connotation.
