Well, we can see your lack of recruiting knowledge all over this thread now.

Ryan Anderson wasn't highly rated when Bama offered him and accepted his commitment. They just offered and accepted Johnathan Cook's commitment, who is not a highly rated player.

Thank God you aren't the coach. Kwon Alexander's first choice was Alabama, but he went to LSU. He was pretty damn good when he wasn't injured. We've gotten plenty of players who didn't have us as their #1 choice. Every school gets players who wanted to go somewhere else but weren't given the opportunity. Some of them become great because they're driven to prove that school wrong

We have plenty of those types of players currently on the team and how has that worked out the past two years? Oh, yeah - the two worst teams in Auburn history

My point is that the guys we recruit for this class need to be committed to Auburn first otherwise we will have more of the same

Yeah, the reason we sucked is because we have players who want to be at Bama

I would much rather have a bunch of 4 stars that were also interested in other SEC schools who shared mutual interest than a bunch of scrubs who "want to be at Auburn".

According to rivals
How many in sate recruits that are 3 stars or less do they have commited right now?
1 out of 21
In the past three years?
5 out of 70

Yes, Nick Saban has built a dynasty by recruiting from Rivals' evaluations.

Over half of Alabama's roster is in-state. You have no clue what you're talking about.

I never said they didn't recruit in state. I said that they do not go for the lower rated in state recruits.

Yes, they do. Saban doesn't care about stars.

You putting some hefty qualifiers on your facts to support your argument.

How many in state three stars or less vs. in state recruits or how many total three star or less vs. total recruits would be a better judgment. It should also be noted the there are like 100x's 3 stars than 4's and 5's.

I personally don't know the answer to above, but I would rather see those.

Wasn't Bo Jackson a Bama fan? Even if he wasn't there have been plenty Alabama fans on our team. Not just the past few years but though our our history. So this reasoning is really dumb.

Not just Bama - or have we already forgotten about the offensive juggernaut that was Deangelo Benton? He spent two years trying to enroll at LSU before settling on Auburn and really showed LSU what they missed out on

I don't expect us to be at the top of every recruits list because that's stupid. But in cases like Cunningham, where we know this recruit is only signing with us because the school he really wanted to go to didn't offer, we should tread lightly

In state three stars or less vs In state
This year: 1 - 6
Past three years: 5 - 18

Total three stars or less vs total commits
This year: 7 - 21
Past three years: 21 - 70
So since there are that many more three stars than anything else, why doesn't alabama have more three stars commited to them than 4 or 5 stars

My post relates to the current team which is mentally and physically weak. The guys we bring in for this class need to have heart and character as we may be two years away from being either an SEC contender or a perennial bottom dweller.

I know how you guys feel about stars and stealing recruits from "name" schools but we had four years of that under Chizik that left us with a 3-9 season. It's time for a change and hopefully the new staff understands this

So we had a 3-9 season with highly-rated players, so we should just completely stop getting highly-rated players? We were 3-9 because of coaching. Our recruiting will likely not change much. The change will come in the discipline and coaching
