Makes me question just how much say the recruits actually have and how much the parents are actually playing a role in their final destination

It's gotta be Clemson and Ohio St for most of the South I would imagine.

Maybe Michigan as well since Harbaugh took over. He's been mostly unsuccessful in Tennessee, but he's trying to get in.

If Stanford could find some qualified people below the Mason-Dixon line, it would be Stanford.

He doesn't have to 'recover' from expressing his beliefs. Either the kid / family buy it or they don't. I haven't noticed Dabo backtracking on anything he's said.

I didn't mean he backtracks on anything, perhaps I could have worded it differently. I was merely pointing out that he has been so successful with recruiting in spite of his comments, which could be viewed by many as anti-player or out of touch with different demographics.

I'll admit I actually read one of the Dabo anthem headlines wrong and made a mistake, he said he wouldn't punish players for protesting. It was just his comments on the subject that upset DeAndre Hopkins and drew the ire of some African-Americans.

I know what you're saying. What works in his favor is that everything he says he says with conviction. He's not a hem-hawer like some of these guys. Spurrier was the same way.
As Carolina said above, he gets a great buy-in from parents. I don't believe many parents tell their kids where to specifically go, but these kids can tell if mom is buying what the coach is selling, and that can only help.

cracks me up how a SC fan can say Dabo comes off as a buffoon given your last 3 head coaches. For example, Dabo would never have done a bizarre press conference like SPurrier did his last season when it wasn't going well, and he's not talking trash like Spurrier. I have a hard time even understanding Hotlz at times and Spurrier sounds a lot more country bumpkin than Dabo does.

Payers do get paid, it is called scholarships plus a lot of perks on top of that.

you seem to think black people all have the same views on things, and that black people would refuse to go to Clemson simply b/c of a disagreement with the coach on something. \

It sounds to me that if you were a football coach, you would say things even if you don't believe them, because you think you have to say them to get recruits. Doesn't that make you a phony?

I don't think most black recruits think they should be paid a salary like NFL players. They just want to play football at a college and the more talented ones want a shot at the NFL.

Because words like "some" or "many" equals "all" right?

Many players regardless of color choose not to go to schools that offer them because of disagreements or different views with coaching staff, be it political beliefs or football ideology this isn't anything new.

That's a major jump to conclusion, Are you assuming I agree with Dabo's views but hide my beliefs?

I think most if not all players would like to be paid in addition to their scholarship. Many of these schools brings in millions of dollars off these kids that play a very violent and injury prone game and the full cost of school isn't even covered.Seriously, Would you turn down a raise? This is going to be a continuing issue that's not going away anytime soon, there's a reason Northwestern attempted to unionize.

Anyway Dabo's a heck of a recruiter and finds ways to convince and bond with players even if they might have an initially poor first impression of him from his interaction with the media. Now with a national title it is going to be even harder to recruit against him.

I don't fear anyone in CF outside of Saban. The rest are place holders, because CNS runs the fricking show

How do you know that any have a poor first impression of him? It seems like you are speculating, and it can be speculated that some recruits have a poor first impression of any coach out there. Why is your comment limited to Dabo? I don't get it.

It appears you personally don't like Dabo, probably because you are a Gamecock fan, and for some reason you think if you don't like him, than recruits don't l'ike him.

I don't think there is any strong demand to be paid by the players. I think that is mostly middle age liberal virtue signaling Democrats who see racism in almost everything. If they feel oppressed by not being paid to play college football, they have the optino of not playing. The scholarship will go to another kid.

A free ride to college is getting paid. That was Dabo's point. I don't think any rational parent disagrees with it. Colleges aren't pro teams.

If you want to talk about unfair, isn't it unfair that some students get a free ride to college, simply because they are good at sport, even if they aren't good students? Meanwhile other kids who are good students and/or their parents have to pay for college.

why don't you butt out.

I get that you feel compellled to automatically disagree with anything I post because you are a dumb pyscho redneck Auburn fan and you don't like Clemson for some reason, but I didn't see him compliment Dabo.

He beat up on Dabo. He was talking about how Dabo is a buffoon. The reality is this gamecock fan is a bitter person. His teams' coach is Muschamp and he is talking about Dabo is a buffoon. lol

And Spurrier was acting crazy frequently, getting into weird spats with sports writers, talking trash, etc.

I never heard of any recruit announcing that he didn't choose to go to a school because of a political disagreement with the coach. Yet he asserts many black recruits do this.

This gamecock fan presents this baseless scenario in which at first recruits don't like Dabo but then he wins them over. He never provides any evidence that a significant number of recruits didn't like Dabo at first. He just assumes that they don't.

You may be the most insecure person alive. Dabo is a great recruiter, and no Carolina fan will doubt that one bit. You're on this board to start unwarranted spats to try and make yourself feel better. Pretty damn sad.

You are total hack. That guy called Dabo a buffoon, and you try to say he only said Dabo is a good recruiter. You are like a Baghdad Bob or old Soviet Union propaganda person.

I think you guys call Dabo a buffoon to try to make yourselves feel better about how things are going at SC. You are projecting your sour grapes mindset onto me.

This is what your Gamecock buddy said:

' It's quite amazing considering how he comes off as a bit of a buffoon frequently. He's even made some statements to the media that I figure would drive players away, like being against paying players stating, "“I’ll go do something else because there’s enough entitlement in this world as there is" even though he's making over 5 million a year in salary, endorsements, and bonuses. He also stated he would punish players that did not stand for the national anthem if they were in the situation where his team was on the field during the anthem.
You got to be a heck of a salesman to recover from remarks like those.'

He appears to think a head coach should never express sincere opinions and the coach should be a phony, in the name of recruiting. In a way, he's indirectly giving Dabo a compliment. It is crazy to me that a person would find Dabo's two comments to be offensive, anyway.

His scenario is a false dilemma anyway because there is no evidence that any recruit had any problem with Dabo's comments on those topics.
