Kind of interesting Winston was considered a dual threat. Guy can kind of move but not sure I would have called him a DT

======== 2007 ========

#4 - 4 stars - Stephen Garcia, South Carolina

Became USC's starting QB as a RS-Soph., led Gamecocks to first ever SEC-East title and all-around Joe Collegery. Made various CFL, AFL, USFL & XFL rosters but never lasted more than a season.

He's still out there....

======== 2008 ========

#14 - 3 stars - Aramis Hillary, South Carolina

Hillary transferred to FCS Coastal Carolina after his R-Fr. season, and led the Chantacleers his final 2 seasons there, setting some single-season passing records that have since been eclipsed by Alex Ross.

quote:

======== 2010 ========

#19 - 3 stars - Connor Shaw, South Carolina

Shaw became the starting QB in 2011 as a true soph. with Garcia's dismissal: led the Gamecocks to 3 consecutive 11-win seasons, 3 consecutive final top 10 rankings, and 3 consecutive bowl victories over Nebraska, Michigan, and Wisconsin. Is currently with the NFL Cleveland Browns practice squad.

quote:

======== 2012 ========

#22 - 3 stars - Brendan Nosovitch, South Carolina

Nosovitch transferred to Boston College in 2015 after his RS-Jr. after little playing opportunities at USC, and after transitioning to the TE position. He sat out last season for transferring, and will have 2 years to play beginning with 2016.

Connor Shaw was one of the best QB's on that entire board. He is a winner and now he's getting paid in the NFL.

I counted about 10-12 I would take over Shaw. But it's all opinion.

#14 - 3 stars - Morgan Newton, Kentucky

Newton finished his UK career with the following stats:

193/384 (50.3%) 1837 yards 4.8 YPA 15 TD 13 INT

He added 169 rushes for 515 yards (3.0 YPA) and 5 TDs as well as 1 catch for 21 yards.\

As a junior, he once missed a game to take the LSAT against the wishes of Randy Sanders, the Offensive Coordinator.

... and with the exception of Newton in 2007, I would not trade a single one of the others on the entire list from '07-'13 for Connor Shaw.

Shaw was the total package when it came to a dual threat QB ... no program could ask for more.

BTW, you may want to change your subject line since this is a single thread, not a dual thread.

ETA: And I left Clint Moseley off the list on accident. What an abortion.

I would trade many for Connor Shaw, and I loved him as a player.

Cam Newton
Tyrod Taylor
Robert Griffin III
Brett Hundley
Marcus Mariota
Johnny Manziel
Teddy Bridgewater
Jameis Winston
Chad Kelly

#19 - 3 stars - Travaris Cadet, Toledo

Backup RB for the Saints, my old teammate also. Guy stunk at qb but was crazy elusive.

Go back 1 more year. 2006 was the greatest QB class EVER. 7 1st round picks

Bradford
Stafford
Locker
Ponder
Tebow
Dalton
Freeman
+ Kaepernick Keenum

not to mention notable college QBs like Greg Mcelroy, Armanti Edwards, Todd Ressing and Ricky Dobbs

I think at one point 7/32 starting QBs were from that class

As far as their pro careers go. Pretty solid college careers though.

Shouldn't need explaining

quote:

#8 - 4 stars - Kodi Burns, Auburn

Played sparingly in '07 as a change of pace behind Brandon cox. Started non the disasterous '08 team before losing his job.

Caught an important TD in the BCS NCG. WR coach for Auburn

quote:

#2 - 4 stars - Tyrik Rollison, Auburn

Transferred out after Newton arrived but he was struggling in the classroom and off the field. Very emotional kid. Transferred to Sam Houston and then to several other places

quote:

#19 - 3 stars - Clint Moseley, Auburn

Honestly never realized he was considered a duel threat guy. Also emotional, known as crying Cam. Played unsuccessfully in '11 and '12. Then he had a bunch of shoulder and ankle injuries. Left the team his senior year and graduated from AU

quote:

#5 - 4 stars - Kiehl Frazier, Auburn

Head case. Dad punched a fan. Moved from QB to S to WR. Transferred to DII for another shot at QB and played well. Threw for 2k and ran for another 700

quote:

#25 - 3 stars - Jonathan Wallace, Auburn

Played some in the 2012 QB madness. Didn't start in '13 or '14 with Nick Marshall at QB. Moved to WR. Now he's a graduate assistant

quote:

#25 - 3 stars - John Franklin, Florida St.

TBD. Dude is super light, though

Weird to see him on there. Plays RB for the Saints.
quote:

#1 - 5 stars - Russell Shepard, LSU

Never found a position for him at LSU. Had some flashes at RB and WR but never did anything of note. Also never threw a pass. Plays WR for Tampa Bay in the NFL now.
quote:

#24 - 3 stars - Barrett Bailey, list

Ended up signing with LSU. Never touched the field.
quote:

#2 - 4 stars - Robert Bolden, Penn St.

Transferred to LSU after a few years. Never touched the field here.
quote:

#5 - 4 stars - Terrance Broadway, Houston

From BR, went to Houston and played really well. Never know why we never recruited him hard.
quote:

#12 - 3 stars - Munchie Legaux, Cincinnati

Also from LA, had a great career in Cincy.
quote:

#10 - 4 stars - Jerrard Randall, LSU

Never played a down at LSU. God knows where he is now.
quote:

#16 - 3 stars - Jeremy Liggins, LSU

Too fat, ended up being a TE/QB at Ole Miss.
quote:

#6 - 4 stars - Anthony Jennings, LSU

Well, most people know the story here. Started a bunch, but now is transferring out. Just wasn't very good.

After being signed by the master evaluator of talent, Bobby Petrino, he was moved to TE, then transferred to 1AA Central Arkansas where he was a TE, then he gave up football completely and played baseball. Listen to people tell you about Petrinos prowess at identifying QBs though. Just don't let facts like his track record get in the way.

Yea I liked Shaw a lot, but there are 3 OSU qbs I am happy they had over Shaw in that time period with Pryor, Miller and Barrett

Ended up transferring to ULL from Houston and played decent but not well enough to make LSU miss him.

Jerrad Randall God knows where he is bow

He's at Arizona. He plays spot duty. He looks pretty good for them, would probably start but their starter is a beast that's a year younger than him I believe

Drafted: 3rd Round (89th overall) of the 2013 draft ($775,000 signing bonus)

Article from last year.....

quote:

highly rated dual threat quarterback Cord Sandberg was drafted in the third round of the 2013 Major League Baseball draft by the Philadelphia Phillies.

quote:

In his 2 years in the minor leagues, he has hit .224 with 8 home runs and 38 RBIs. He plays right field, but the Phillies are considering whether they should move him over to center field.
