re: What are the chances that Freeze and Ole Miss could flip Aeris Williams?

Agreed -- we've both got good RBs. The difference stylistically in how they have thusfar been used under Freeze leads there to really be no valid comparison to make.
I've found it interesting how he's preferred the scat backs to this point over the bruisers(Mathers and Dodson). But I suppose that could easily be explained by trying to spread the field until the young OL has time to mature...when you'll presumably have a much better opportunity to go north and south.
Mullen's usage of our RBs has done nothing but piss me off the past two seasons anyway. I have no doubt he'll be right back to pounding it with Perkins next week in Auburn.

I think he was trying to RS Dodson, but ended up burning it Saturday, so expect more of him. Itavious looks the best of the bunch right now but has a bum ankle and that's why he didnt play against Vandy. Freeze even said that we couldnt run our offense properly without Mathers so I expect a lot of him.

And on the topic at hand -- I've been singing this about Aeris all along.
Hopefully between he/Shump, we'll have a guy that can move the pile against elite defenses, which is something we haven't seen since Dixon left(and to an extent -- since Hanrahan left and Mullen eliminated the FB)...
2009 wasn't the most impressive offense we fielded statistically -- but it was creative as hell -- and(under Mullen) Dixon never disappeared in a college game the way I've seen Ballard and Perk disappear in the years since...
This is a pretty damn impressive stat line.

Gene Swindoll said that Shumpert/Williams duo will give State the best RB corps in the SEC.

I guess guys like Jeff Scott, Kailo, Dodson, etc are all NFL bound
Both Aeris Williams and Ashton Shumpert are prototypical power backs who project well on the next level and towards the NFL as well.

I'm not sure what you're getting at...

Neat! That doesn't make them "the most formidable duo in the SEC" or whatever Gene is saying. Holy shite, one has been playing college football for two weeks and the other one is still in high school, so calling them "the best" of anything in the SEC is premature as hell.

I get what you are saying.
Both Aeris and Shump have a bright future ahead of them. They are probably the best RBs to come out of MS since Jarius Norwood.

Al Bundy Bulldog.. Thats who...
I've seen some of the golden information he's come up with all by himself (without the normal use of 'sources') and that guy could very easily be the GM of any NFL team. Why he chooses not to be, I dont know. I guess he has to much loyalty to State. You cant be a fan of a school while being a GM. Thats the only logical reason I can think of.
I take that back..... Not any NFL team. The Patriots have it going on by themselves, but any other team would gladly offer him the job.
