I live in Nashville too, and it is definitely a UT town. Sure there are other schools with fans here now, but I can assure you LSU is not on the radar for many people around this part of the state.

Really painting a picture of 2 incredibly different schools here. So much difference between the 2, especially when we have played the best in the west for the past 3 years

and LSU has played the best in the East. What's your point?

LSU just fired Les Miles because he couldn't beat Saban

Les Miles was fired for losing to Wisconsin and Auburn in the first 4 games when he had a preseason top 5 team while already on the hot seat for getting blown out 3 straight games last year after getting to #2 in the first CFP ranking.

So, it's safe to say Miles wasn't going to be beating Saban this year either.

Butch didn't even try for Phillips.

Stevens, iirc, is from LA. Idk if his family moved up after Katrina or what the story for him is.

Tennessee could have easily landed Phillips if this staff actually tried to get him. He was, for whatever reason, basically ignored.

Butch and this staff overall are not good recruiters. Thigpen called Van Jeffersons Mom a c*nt iirc

IMO since LSU has a top program they should all stay in state unless going too Stanford or Notre Dame etc. Obviously that doesn't happen since some kids want to get away from home. My gripe is if you want to go elsewhere do it and don't play games. Don't be a douche and claim you've been a LSU fan all your life, it's your dream school etc. then go to Bama. That applies to any school not jut LSU and Bama.

I don't mind players going out of state or even to Bama. If a player is going out of state I just assume they go to bama because bama is gonna load up anyway I rather them get them than say auburn fla etc. If you lose a instate kid you have to go out of state to get one as good or better this year lsu is doing that

It's the same in the Memphis area. You have more UT fans (at least during football season. Many switch to Memphis for hoops), but there are a LOT of OM, State, Arkansas, and Bama fans, with solid pockets of Auburn and LSU supporters, as well. It just seems like central and west TN are the melting pot of the conference. I would imagine that Atlanta is similar, as well.

Sorry our state is a cultural lighthouse for the rest of the south to flee to. It's not our fault that half of all college graduates from Alabama have to take refuge here once forced to find a job in a real economy. Tennessee should be fine long term in recruiting. The base keeps getting better and better statewide.
