Talent regression doesn't see sharp drops in rankings. they're steady.

Not even close to true, I've seen a ton of players drop like rocks on 247 because of re-evals and nothing to do with grades one bit. Happens ALL the time each year.

They dropped Willie Allen like a rock, Keion Joyner, T.D. Moton. none of those were due to grades.

That wasn't for a talent regression, it's because he was kicked off his team.

No it wasn't, it happened before that, he was simply not the player he was previous, same thing as T.D. Moton.

Moton built his ranking off sophomore season and camps, then by his senior year simply wasn't the same player. Once again, our mods and fans followed this one closely because we really should have a signed a DT that year (and we didn't). They said from day 1 his grades were an issue, and that didnt stop him from getting a 94 4-star ranking. He dropped to an 87 3-star because he regressed a lot from what he was originally.

I guess we will all find out. Worst case for A&M is he is a low risk/high upside who only counts against the 85 at this point since he is a 2015 guy. It's hard to know how he will be after a year off but he certainly had the physical tools to be really good.

Can an LSU poster confirm?

Am I being trolled? I really can't tell with Yall anymore.

It's not a troll. Simmons came on our 247 board to explain Joyner's drop. Joyner isn't the same player he was as a sophomore.

He didn't get dropped as a high school FOOTBALL prospect because of his poor CLASSROOM performance. Geez man, you're better than this

He didn't end up at Alabama or Mississippi State. If those schools wanted him he'd be there.

Right, because MSU staff did all that work to get him qualified out of the kindness of their hearts.

And he isn't there. Obviously grades weren't the issue. You just proved my point.

Act score was the reason they were placing him in juco. They were willing to take the risk of him not making it in, we weren't. Now that he's fully qualified he's taking the better option.

Okay. I'm not gonna argue. I just don't think he's the "gem" you guys are touting him as. And I'm not trying to be a homer or anything.

I don't think many Aggies were hyping him until all the usual LSU fans came through to downplay him.

After reading all this thread and further investigating, pretending like this kid doesn't have a poor work ethic or motivation issue would be ignorant. Ofcourse people change and he seems to be working to turn it around but in prior situations he has failed himself all by himself. It would have actually been smarter and more beneficial to go to juco. Instead, he said frick school and decided to sit on a year of football and thought he was too good for juco football all because he found out he could skip all the class b.s and just make the ACT. Pretty much the majority of the time if you just take a year off on a sport you're going to fall back. He likes to take short cuts that is a bad sign. I wish him luck and success at Texas A&M though.

Yeah, they are working on getting him in still. Grades may be borderline.
