I thought it was clear that he would have been showcased more, at an earlier age, had he stayed in New Orleans.
as a 10 year old?

To the point of the OP, the rumor is about DE Naim Mustaffa leaving Oklahoma St. He was a UGA commit at one point, but decommitted when it became clear he couldn't EE at UGA. He could at Ok St. It was a weird situation in Dec/Jan and apparently still is.
These kids need to learn about commitment. pandoras box seems to be opening this year and I forsee more to come. just like the delayed signing day LOI letters

quote:Not reading all 8 pages to see if this has been posted yet, but a family member of Tyren's posts on 247 and he said that Tyren is kicking major arse in summer workouts and he will really push for 2nd string reps. Didn't really sound like a kid who had checked out on his team already. I highly doubt it's him.
Pure speculation on my part, but I'd say Tyren Jones due to his size. He's only listed at 5-8.5 on 247 Sports, and that's probably a generous estimate like most athletes get coming out of high school. I can't see a guy that short being a running back that Nick Saban fits in his offense. He just reminds me of Dee Hart, who I said the same thing about coming out of high school.

Pg 7 Tuck BBD (or Remy74 on here) also knows the family closely and posted the same

Yeah, I figured. It looked like the thread had gone off track by page 2 and I wasn't reading all that to see if it had been posted.

huh? South Ga might get less exposure, but that doesn't apply to the metro ATL kids. They get plenty
This. I hate how people don't recruit South Ga. It's frickin dumb. A lot of good talent is wasted because it's not a great spot to recruit. All recruiters want to do is recruit North Ga.

I called it. I'm not surprised. Seems like Naim is just like his older brother.

Not nearly as many was my point.

Yeah that's a great point. Some of those kids don't even take/pass the SAT/ACT.

Do we know who the rumor is about yet? Or if its just complete bullshite?

Didn't three of Barbers Olinemen sign with a D1 school this year?
4 star offensive guard Brandon Kublanow signed with Georgia and 2 star Jake Boynton was committed to Kentucky for over half a year before decommitting and signing elsewhere (haven't figured out where yet). Both were from Walton High School and in the class of 2013.
Seems like a wash just looking at the 2013 class. I haven't looked into the 2014, 2015, or 2016 classes for offensive linemen that may have been playing for either team.

I saw the thread was at 8 pages and I last read on page 3 I think ,so I didn't even attempt to look.
I like how he says one of GA's top recruits and the guy he's talking about is #30 in the state and a 3 star

Scary thing is he has great catching ability already and the quickest feet I've seen in a back outta HS in a long time, the jump cut the juke etc
I will continue to believe if he had stayed in La and never moved he would've been a 5* and one of the top RBs in the country (he was originally from Louisiana, moved I believe due to Katrina)
I think the reason he wasn't a 5 star is because he didn't do the Nike SPARQ & NFTC......the Camps. Unless analysts came to his games or saw the Georgia All-Stars 7on7 team, they probably didn't know how good a pass catcher he is.
Alvin Kamara is a beast......but I think he was ranked higher than Tyren by 3 of the rankings is because he enhanced his rating by going to the Nike Opening and showcasing his pass catching skills.
Also, agree with you on the quick feet. Just wait until we get video of the RBs doing the drills when practice gets started.

If he was underrated, what was Peyton Barber?
They played in the same division and had 6 common opponents, including each other, out of a 10 game schedule, so only 3 uncommon opponents.
Their rushing #'s from last year.
Barber - 225 Att for 1713 yds and 22 TD 7.61 YPC
Jones - 268 Att for 1682 yds and 16 TD 6.27 YPC
I'm not trying to make an argument that Barber is better, but if Jones was vastly underrated, what does that make Barber? I know Barber missed either most or all of his jr year due to an injury, which hurt him in the rankings, and I'm not sure if Jones was hurt his Sr year, but the #'s speak for themselves with that many common opponents, imo.
Walton played 3 top 12 teams in Class 6A that were not in the Region that Milton didn't play.
Brookwood
McEachern- Watch out for them this year. 2015 RB, Taj Griffin......NASTY.
North Cobb- Made the Georgia 6A Semifinals.
Walton also played with 4 Sophomore Offensive Lineman in 4 of the 8 games Jones' played. He missed the last 3 games of the season due to an MCL Sprain. Was due to return the next week but they lost in Round 1 of playoffs.
Walton was so dependent on Jones that in the game against North Cobb....down by 14 points late in the 3rd qtr on 4th down and 7.....They ran Jones instead of allowing McLeod to throw. North Cobb made the 6A Semifinals and was bragging that they held Jones to 177 yards rushing.
See his 2011 stats when he had a decent offensive line. 2,400 yards, 33 rushing TDs......3,000 All-Purpose Yards and 38 Total TDs. Led team to State Title game where they got blitzed by Robert Nkemdiche and Grayson.

I still don't know why this is an argument. I thought it was clear what Buc was suggesting. That he was never in a RB friendly offense. You see more of those in the New Orleans high schools. I think that was his point.

I believe Walton had 4 sophomores starting on the Oline but I could be mistaken.
^^^This. Brandon Kublanow [at UGA now] and Jake Boynton [initially committed to Kentucky but decommitted after Joker was fired] both missed 4-5 games. Again, Jones only played in 8 games last year.

Also, I'm pissed that he signed with y'all over us, I think he's going to be a damn good back whether he was running behind a D1 oline in high school or not.
I think 4 of the Milton lineman were committed to D1 Schools at one point. Think they averaged around 280-290 last year across the line.
With that....Barber is a good RB. I think he should have been a low 4 star. He can play.

Actually, Tyren was in a very RB friendly offense.
-The issue is that he had a good line in 2011 and ran for 2,400 yards and 33 TDs. McLeod was healthy and they had 2 good WRs that graduated, 1 was Zack Blayock who along with his twin brother Daron signed with Kentucky in the Class of 2012.
-In 2012 he ran behind 4 sophmores for 1/2 the season, Parker McLeod [who is at Bama now] missed 5 games.....and overall teams stacked the box as they knew Walton was the Tyren Jones show with not much else. He still averaged 210 yards a game in the 8 games he played...with a sophomore line.
